  I really need some advice

  i want to contact my adult children and let them know i do love them.

  they only 2 out of 4 called me and when they thought i would die from cancer wanted to get something.

  i do really love my kids ages 26 to 32 and am so depressed tonite.

  I'm so sorry you are in so much pain right now. I'm not familiar with the extent of your situation, but it must be very difficult for you as it seems there are several things going on at once. Please take care of yourself!

  Shunned by an old friend

  in all the years i was a jw, although i had many acquaintances, i only had 3 really close friends.

  two of them are no longer jws.

  one is trev, who is obviously a lot more than a friend to me now, and my friend marion left the wts a few months ago, with a lot of encouragement from me.. my other friend is still very much a jw, and when i was announced as no longer a jw last year, she phoned me to tell me how very upset and disappointed she was.

  Should I leave the WTS?

  after hearing the coverups and scandals, im thinking about leaving the wts for good.

  while reading all of these coverups, i felt like my wife just cheated on me with my brother.

  I've really enjoyed my time here so far and thank everyone. Besides successfully killing far too many threads I've become very enlightened by all your thoughts and knowledge.

  After reading many posts, I happened to think...

  In the US, individuals under 18 can't be held liable for contracts they sign which is why a minor isn't allowed to enter into a contract. Well, has that ever been tested with respect to the JW's or would they still cry religious freedom? So if someone were to sue the JW's for DFing them, etc because they were baptized while a minor, what would happen? I realize that the cong would still warn everyone of that person being a bad associate, but there's a big difference between that and being DF'd.

  What would be something you'd like from secret santa?

  i am already thinking of ideas.

  my sister had an online relationship with a man from holland (they are now married in the us) anyhow, they would send eachother packages and the coolest things he would send was different foods from there... cookies the us doesn't have, chocolate spread for toast.... this is my first gift exchange since i was a kid, so anyone have some ideas?

  ( is this kosher to ask?

  This is so exciting!!!

  I collect ornaments whenever I travel so anything that represents the area and culture you live in and that looks handcrafted would be perfect. Love the color pink and blue. Just started surfing so anything surf related would also be fun.

  Secret Santa (Gift Exchange) 2006

  hope this hasnt been posted already, if it has someone tell me as i dont want to step on anyones toes !!.

  well christimas will soon be here !!.

  gadget did a great job of organising the forum gift exchange the last couple of years so i thought i would give him a break and volunteer to organise it this year.. for those that are new basically what it involves is that those who want to join in will post to this thread and then pm me their name and address.

  One thing that REALLY bothers me

  i was just watching the news about an organization called bundles of love that puts together kits for new parents that can't afford to get things for their newborns.

  it was a touching piece.

  one of the volunteers talked about why she decided to help out and the first thing that came to my mind was how ashamed i am of how as part of jw i would have instinctively found someway to discredit her kindess as just another worldly person walking blindly through satan's world.

  I know how you feel. My mom was living with a sister after she left my abusive elder father of 24 years. Anyway, my mom paid rent to this sister, etc. but then she got sick. The elders came and told my mom that the sister didn't want her to live there anymore, even though she was still able to pay rent and utilities, and they handed my mom a list of homeless shelters they felt she should check out.

  And we were always told how horrible the world is, but they pushed my mom to these very charities.
