she was 89 years old and a special pioneer untill she became too ill to keep up her time.. what's next?.

watchtower losses.

over the years of 1949 to 1996 for every 5 persons who were baptized by watchtower representatives 1 ended up inactive.

over the past 10 years (1997 to 2006) for every 3 persons who were baptized by watchtower representatives 1 ended up inactive.. compared to the years 1949 through 1996, in the past 10 years watchtower losses have increased from 20 percent to 34 percent.

i want to thank everyone here for all the help and kind words offered to me as i adjust to having worth.

i guess i have a long way to go and i guess i'm going to have to go and see a counselor like someone else suggested.. no matter how hard i work or what i accomplish, i still feel so ugly and i'm still afraid of the stupidest things.

i don't know if my fears are on par with paranoia, but they are definitely distracting and i need to get some outside assistance.. the good news is that around here, with people who've gone through the same, i feel better.

thecarpenter, I have that book. I love it and I recognized Arron Beck's name immediately. The problem I have with this book is that it comes from the premise that everyone has worth and since I was convinced I had none, it was fairly easy for me to discredit the claims it made. Still, I think that cognitive therapy is very powerful and very helpful. I will probably be able to do some self-therapy once I get the jw-given sense of worthlessness dealt with. Most days I can put it in the background, but there are days where everything that happens is like a reminder of how much god hates me and how ugly I am. It's quite powerful - regardless of whether it sounds kind of lame when I write it here.

im sitting here today thinking:.

"my daughter should have had open heart surgery years ago and she would have been too young to know anything about it.

instead, she is about to face it now....the surgeons were relectant to do it when we were jws and she was so young.

I can't say they ruined (past tense) my life since I still have some left and I'm finally getting healing, but they have done SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE. I won't rehash my story in this thread, but I'm stunted in a number of areas due to the crap they fed me. I have to accept the blame for starting to study with them, but since they use underhanded methods to indctrinate their people, I blame them more.

I wouldn't have given up my $30,000 college fund from the army if I'd have known the truth about their false prophecy, misuse of the bible, history of hypocritical advice, sheer number of flip flopping doctrines, intimidation tactics, proclivity toward arrogance, and other dysfunctional crap.

I use to write poetry, but most of mine was really dark, this was while I was still in the borg. Now its kind of like a diff person writting.

I'd love to read some - if you don't mind sharing. Here's one of my darker ones. You can probably tell, but I wrote it after a suicide attempt failed.

Now I Know Feeling hopeless, useless
Rejection left me low
Way too low

Death became an option
The preferred option
But no go

I woke up, stomach pumped
"Fuck you paramedics!"
Profound woe

Many memories missing
Many bridges too
Reap and sow

Faith and hope dismantled
Dreams all entangled
Sun won't glow

Reaching out for others
Former friends AWOL
New ones show

Love and concern offered
