Imagine being frail and in your later life, having spent most of your life in the WTS and having no friends or family outside. A balance of miseries might lead one to conclude - better the Devil that you know than the lonely one you do not.
I couldn't help but think of Ray Franz with this statement. I suspect that if he were asked the question, he would say he would rather know the truth than remain in ignorance. Those who have read C of C and In Search of Christian Freedom can verify that.

My heart was beating so fast and I was really nervous talking to him.....I think that is really strange to feel that way. I felt love and compassion and pity for him.

Good for you. I hope you do get a chance to talk to more Witnesses in the future. They need to hear what they are not being told by the organization.

I am sorry to hear about the marriage trouble between your parents. I am praying that somehow the Lord will use you and your exit from the cult to help bring healing to them. However, there will definitely be some elder involvement, won't there, if she moves out? How will that affect your fade? (i.e. will there be nosy elders around, wanting to know why she is being unsubmissive, and what did you have to do with the whole thing?) I was reading through some of your previous posts and I saw that you have been reading your Bible this year and learning things that you never knew while you were trapped in the cult.
I read that you were seeing who Jesus really was and finding comfort in that fact.
Let me encourage you to listen to his words from the Bible:
"Come to me, Core, you are weary and heavily laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28-30)
He wants to give rest to you here in this life that you are living and take the burden off your shoulders that is giving you such pain right now.
Core, please know that he loves you so deeply and that he has a purpose and a plan for your life. It will include, in time, turning your deep sorrow into dancing. He will take away your grief, and give you joy. Psalm 30:11
I have found great comfort in reading the Psalms. David had times of deep distress and depression, and his words have always helped me to focus on turning to someone Greater than me who can handle things when my life is out of control.
I don't know the specifics of why you are feeling so hopeless right now, but I want you to know that you are loved. Please hang on! PM me for more encouragement, I would love to talk and pray with you.

he was raised a jw (only by his mother, his dad has never been in the "truth").
Hi and welcome! You have received many interesting replies here and I hope you will be helped by them. I am just wondering thought, for those who are recommending not talking about the org., isn't there a point where you need to talk about the cult and establish it for what it really is? I am thinking of posters who have been taken for a loop when an inactive Witness has suddenly become active due to some kind of life change (baby on the way, death in the family, etc.)
I am assuming that at some time, you will want to have a family, and so you wouldn't want to be surprised by a husband who all of a sudden becomes very active in the cult, for the sake of the kids. This is something you would want to establish before hand.
