I saw it and sent her an email of encouragement. She is just a bit older than my daughter, so I felt like I was listening to my daughter. It made an impression on me, seeing how articulate and well mannered she is at such a young age. I felt for her. Even though it happened years ago, she still cried when talked about her friends, those she missed after fading. So it is still affecting her somehow.

I was living in Texas then, and was taking my kids to school when I heard it on the radio. Got home as soon as I could, turned the TV on and BAM the second plane hits. I was numb, couldn't make out exactly what I was watching. Thought, what an awful accident! But then, as time went by, I started actually listening to the reporter and there he mentioned terrorism and everybody knows the rest. I feel for the families that lost their loved ones, and still remember all the stories that some of them told about their own experiences and how they got to talk to their loved ones one last time, before the Towers fell. Still gives me goosebumps.
MAY WE NEVER FORGET. LET'S TRY TO DO GOOD ON THIS DAY.

I find hard to believe that the congregation is asking to have any monies donated to KH to receive that money and use it for KH contributions instead of giving it to the grieving families. Even though I faded over a year ago, I can't still accuse the Org. or the congregations of deceptions of that magnitude. Call me naive, still under their control, whatever, but I don't really believe that their decisions are all based on some hidden motive.

Back to Story - HelpAncient escape hatch found in Israel
By AMY TEIBEL, Associated Press Writer Sun Sep 9, 12:56 PM ET
Under threat from Romans ransacking Jerusalem 2,000 years ago, many of the city's Jewish residents crowded into an underground drainage channel to hide and later flee the chaos through Jerusalem's southern end unnoticed.
The ancient tunnel was recently discovered buried beneath rubble, a monument to one of the great dramatic scenes of the destruction of the Second Temple in the year 70 A.D.
The channel was dug beneath what would become the main road of Jerusalem, the archaeology dig's directors, Ronny Reich of the University of Haifa and Eli Shukron of the Israel Antiquities Authority, said Sunday. Shukron said excavators looking for the road happened upon a small drainage channel that led them to the discovery of the massive tunnel two weeks ago.
"We were looking for the road and suddenly we discovered it," Shukron said. "And the first thing we said was, 'Wow.'"
The walls of the tunnel — made of ashlar stones 3 feet deep — reach a height of 10 feet in some places and are covered by heavy stone slabs that were the road's paving stones, Shukron said. Several manholes are visible, and portions of the original plastering remain, he said.
Pottery shards, vessel fragments and coins from the end of the Second Temple period were also discovered inside the channel, attesting to its age, Reich said.
The discovery of the drainage channel was momentous in itself, a sign of how the city's rulers looked out for the welfare of their citizens by developing an infrastructure that drained the rainfall and prevented flooding, Reich said.
The discovery "shows you planning on a grand scale, unlike other cities in the ancient Near East," said Joe Zias, an expert in the Second Temple period who was not involved in the dig.
But what makes the channel doubly significant is its role as an escape hatch for Jews desperate to flee the conquering Romans, the dig's directors said.
The Second Temple was the center of Jewish worship during the second Jewish Commonwealth, which spanned the six centuries preceding the Roman conquest of Jerusalem. Its expansion was the most famous construction project of Herod, the Jewish proxy ruler of the Holy Land under imperial Roman occupation from 37 B.C.
As the temple was being destroyed by the Romans in 70 A.D., numerous people took shelter in the drainage channel and lived inside it until they fled Jerusalem through its southern end, the historian Josephus Flavius wrote in "The War of the Jews."
"It was a place where people hid and fled to from burning, destroyed Jerusalem," Shukron said.
Tens of thousands of people lived in Jerusalem at the time, but it is not clear how many used the channel to escape, he said.
About 100 yards of the channel have been uncovered so far. Reich estimates its total length will reach more than a half-mile, stretching north from the Shiloah Pool at Jerusalem's southern end to the disputed holy shrine known to Jews as Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Al Aqsa Mosque compound. The shrine is the site of the two biblical Jewish temples.
Archeologists think the tunnel leads to the Kidron River, which empties into the Dead Sea.

The other day a had a good friend that went to the house to "encourage" me. I let him in and his wife in because they are different. Among all the things we discussed, because I actually opened myself up to them about some of the things that disturb me, and among those was that about the "love" the congregation members should have among one another. I told him that some elders knew that my husband and I were struggling financially. One of the elders/pioneer and self employed in landscaping knew about it and also knew that my husband works doing the same work, and never once offered to at least have my husband help him out or something, I actually went to another elder who was selling his business because he was moving, same doing lawns, and told him that if he could at least leave him 10 of his account that will help, nothing. If he didn't sell everything, probably gave them to this other elder. Another thing is what you just said here, other religions go out their way to help others in need, but not here. There are no yard sales, to give an example, to help a member in need, being health or financial difficulties, no car wash drive, not even an anouncement in the congregation to set aside from the contributions part of that money to give to the needy.

Do You Recognize Your Baptism?

This is the deal at baptism: You have to give up your whole life. You have to spend all day distributing Puketower literature. You have to give up a decent job and education. You cannot have any fun. You cannot later decide to do something with your life, ever . You are expected to devote as much time as they feel you can in the field misery. You are accountable for anyone that gets left behind because you miss a number or you didn't feel like staying out past 8 or 9 PM instead of noon one day or because you didn't feel like giving up your job. Anything that is fun is off limits.
And what does Jehovah have to do in exchange for all this? Exist. That's His "end" of the deal. He owes you nothing, even though He can prevent you from ever fulfilling your hopes and desires that He made you with. He doesn't even owe you getting out of your way to fulfill your own dreams! All He has to do is exist.
What kind of f xxx ing deal is that ? I, for one, do not see any value whatsoever in fulfilling my end of the deal, since Jehovah doesn't even owe me life itself! I could do all the things I am "supposed" to do, only to have Jehovah decide I could put in one more yoctosecond (a septillionth of a second) in the misery and destroy me for that. Or, I could get in only to find nothing but celibacy and stagnation and Jehovah angrily crying out that I ought to be thankful for the "privilege" of just getting in.
As a result, my dedication and baptism have been officially revoked. I will not go out in the field misery. I will not go to the boasting sessions, ever. I will continue celebrating holidays despite their insistence that these are wrong. I will not give a f xxx if people die because I did not go out in service instead of staying home to light my "sun-worship" tree or put up apostate posts and blogs online.
A warning to any family or group that thinks they can recapture me and force me to do Jehovah's will: I promise to make your life as miserable as I can. You better hope you don't have a computer because I will leave every apostate Web site open that I can access. If you entrust me with literature to place, you had better make sure to watch me every second because I will attempt to write apostate Web site links in every tract and magazine I can. You had better watch your car, because I will try to remove and hide the spark plug so you will not be able to attend the boasting sessions, making especially sure to sabotage your attendance at the Crapmorial. And, if I am taken on a call that's within reasonable distance from my real home, I will pull out my copy of Crisis of Conscience and my Ouija board and take these with me in service. Hopefully I will be able to stumble the whole group out of the Tower. Failing that, I will (and I promise) to bring in as many demons as I can into your group.
OUUCCHHH. JEEEZZZ, THAT'S WHAT I CALL BITTERNESS. NOT THAT I BLAME YOU. BUT, HOW COME YOU ARE SO MAD AT GOD HIMSELF? I ASK YOU IN A CURIOUS WAY. I AM READING A BOOK CALLED "God is not great", by Christopher Hitchens, AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THAT WAY. I AM WRITING MY THOUGHTS ON MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCES AND ALSO LIKE TO KNOW WHY OTHER PEOPLE THINK THE WAY THEY DO, CERTAINLY YOURS IS VERY INTERESTING. DO YOU HAVE YOUR STORY IN HERE SOMEWHERE WHERE I CAN READ IT?

Before I decided to fade, everytime I went to a meeting where, especially the Watchtower study was dealing with baptism, they will teach that those thinking about baptism, need to do it out of love for Jehovah and His Org., and that they, first need to dedicate themselves to do God's will in prayer, in their most intimate time. That's when I started to think about my own baptism and what it meant. I never dedicated myself to Jehovah in prayer, didn't study for the questions ( I was smart ), but it's to show, that I didn't take it as seriously as it should be taken. Friends getting baptized and I had to follow, otherwise I would've been outcasted. Is it real to me? I don't think it's ever been. I see it as being falsified my signature on the "contract". Is it valid to God? Probably, I still got into the contract without reading the fine lines. And that's my fault. That is why I tell everybody that asks me, I rather don't follow, than to keep going, just because I took the vow and not do what is asked of me. Very complicated.

i'm with IP_SEC, if we were making fun of Allah, you'd probably be right here doing it with us. i'm not saying you would, i'm just saying you'd probably not be so offended.
And I respond to you that NO, I wouldn't be here making fun of Allah either. I have learned to respect other people's religious symbols even if I don't see them as divine or gods. That is what being on the outside has taught me. Would I be offended? You are right, probably not, because I don't see Allah as MY God. But out of respect to the Muslims I wouldn't make fun of him just as I don't like them hating Christians because they don't believe the same way they do.

OMG just when I was enjoying a good chuckle over this thread here come the wankers. Grow a sense of humor!
I do have good sense of humor, but I certainly do not make fun of God and never will. I don't care about your personal lives, I certainly am not a saint & have my own preferences when it comes to intimacy, and what anybody does in their bedrooms is none of my business and don't judge them for it either, but like I said, just as nobody likes to be made fun of, whether it be because of their religion, their lifestyle, their race, etc., I felt it was disrespectful to make fun of God and Jesus, even if you don't believe they exist.
I really don't want to turn this into a cyber fight, because in general I do agree and respect the reasons why so many of us are either angry and upset about their experiences as JW, I have my own monsters, but I felt I had to say something. Let's just bury the hatchet and go on.

It doesn't matter how we feel about the WTBS I feel that this thread is very insulting and disrespectful. There is no need for this. I've never posted against anything it's been said here that I don't agree on, but I had to do it on this one. Not even drunk will I dare to insult God or Jesus in this way.
SHAME ON YOU.
