i believe there are now over 7 million jws worldwide(correct me if i am wrong).

what makes this growth possible despite all the exposure on the internet and other media?.

not forgetting court cases and lawsuits.. is this not a sign that perhaps this is the true religion?.

If you need statistics as opposed to facts to determine your version of a true religion, then honestly, you only need to answer to yourself.

I wouldn't overrate the amount of criticism from apostates. I wouldn't underrate the amount of apathy most people have about JW's. We apostates were the last ones to figure out that this group is a crazy fringe group cult. If the rest of the world at large doesn't really care what we apostates have to say, its only because they are saying in essence, "Yeah, duh! What took you all so long."

Why start with a false premise anyway? Who says the "true religion™" must be persecuted and spoken against? Doesn't make any sense, esp since all religions can claim that they are spoken against.

Their growth doesn't mean much either. Annually, between 2-300,000 are baptized, but they only grow by a million every 10 years? You do the math.

My favorite NHL team are the Penguins. We have 4 Olympians, Orpik for the USA, Gonchar and Malkin for Russia (with Ovechkin, wow!) and Crosby for Canada.

Gretzky wants a USA-Canada final, but I can't see how it won't be Russia-Canada. Canada is my favorite for hockey...

Was it legal for them to leave with a refferendum? NO! Completely illegal, and it would have never happened. It's like saying New York State is leaving the United States.

This burns me. First off, they must really want any elder on the HLC's to die by the age of 55. Secondly, this means that all elders must visit expecting mothers with this BS, and we all know why. They want to limit their exposure to lawsuits because of their idiotic blood teachings...

I will say, that there are some pro science, pro medicine elders at Brooklyn who try to influence the cult members to, you know, go to the doctor.

God and Suffering

a few weeks back, in the midst of the haiti tragedy, much discussion took place in cyberland about the tolerance [or indeed the insistence on] suffering by a loving god.

the furor over haiti has settled a bit [as unfortunately most tragedy is wont to do far too quickly in the human mind], but this persistent matter continues to chew at my subconscience.
