And thats the key, WE woke up. Having said that, there were many clues along the way that added up and helped. I am sure what you are doing will serve that purpose for many... :)

Since JWs won't go to apostate boards, but they will read the newspaper...
by JimmyPage in... i've written a letter to a local paper.
i hope it will be printed.
it says nothing about jws, but it should get the light bulbs to go off in their heads.

why are women so forgiving in jehovahs witnesses ?
by looloo ini saw a jw girl i used to work with a few weeks back who was married for about 8 years and has 2 children , she was in a right state and told me her husband had just left her for a work collegue and said he no longer loved her !
within a month i see her again and she took him back within a wk of him going to live with this other woman , she told me she blamed herself for not having sex often enough !and they were working on their marriage !
why would you want someone who said they no longer loved you ?

Question for ALL ex JW's or those who don't believe everything - (the answers here may help you and your answers may help others)
by EndofMysteries inplease answer the question(s) which corresponds to your current belief, if you believe in a. the bible and god.
b. just god, but no bible c. neither (atheist).
i'm asking for mutual benefit, in my quest for the truth (still a work in progress), some of the things i've run into you may want to think about, and in your answers will show if anything i haven't thought of or checked into yet, as well as all readying this.... (all the hours you've spent, vs just my own, having many combined may bring up a few good things for us all from everyones answers ).

I am just curious as to why you are disturbed that SOME former JW's don't "believe everything". As if to imply that those that "believe everything" are somehow superior?
A sad, yet curious fact about believers (not all, but a definite some) is that their belief is predicated on getting others to believe in, exercise faith in, the unseen entity that all religions claim to know, represent, but never produce.
So this whole thread is a misnomer, an exercise in futility. This topic has nothing to do with the utility of faith. You instead challenge those who "don't believe everything".
The whole premise of your thread is to discuss fiction with those who "don't believe everything".
In my view, maturity is reached when a person can keep their own beliefs while letting go of the need to somehow convince or force their beliefs on others.
I realize that you might protest and say "But I am not forcing my beliefs on anyone." Fair enough. But are you allowing for the very real possibility that YOU are in error?
If you can't recognize your own theological gray areas, then you only bring this up for one reason, as an apologetic for your own dogmatic point of view. As if others must be convinced you are right, or that others must be convinced they are wrong.
If you see God where others don't, all I can say is, tell her we said hello. But you seeing god, and believing we were somehow created is a long way from identity and personality.
Your use of words like "belief" are disrespectful in my opinion, to myself and many others. As if atheists and agnostics replaced belief in god with a belief in a non god. Atheists and agnostics will ever only bring up one point that seems to be lost on you; you and your beliefs, and your passion, have produced not one iota of EVIDENCE of a god, to say nothing of a god with a distinctive personality.
Anyway, my question to you is, why do you care?

ATTENTION ALL LURKING, CURIOUS JW'S, JW TROLLS, AND FORMER JW'S DETERMINED TO SAVE JW'S FROM THEMSELVES
by AllTimeJeff inthank you all.. it seems that we former jw's have excellent reasons to be be upset.
between being lied to about how russell and rutherford started this fruity little cult, having to deal with the coverups of pedophiles and other criminals, the mysoginistic treatment of women, being lied to about 1914 and the related date of 607 bce, the ridiculous and ever changing blood doctrine, being lied to about gb involvement in the un, the changed it once and now back again understanding of what a "generation" is, being lied to about when the end of this system was supposed to come, being lied to about 1975, being told not to go to college and instead explore the underrated world of window washing with the outstanding income potential it produces...... *panting* i am sorry, i am out of breath...... my point is this, (and i speak from experience): former jw's are pretty raw.
and thus, easily exploitable on internet boards by trolls.. trolls see this.

Thank you all.
It seems that we former JW's have excellent reasons to be be upset. Between being lied to about how Russell and Rutherford started this fruity little cult, having to deal with the coverups of pedophiles and other criminals, the mysoginistic treatment of women, being lied to about 1914 and the related date of 607 BCE, the ridiculous and ever changing blood doctrine, being lied to about GB involvement in the UN, the changed it once and now back again understanding of what a "generation" is, being lied to about when the end of this system was supposed to come, being lied to about 1975, being told not to go to college and instead explore the underrated world of window washing with the outstanding income potential it produces.....
*panting* I am sorry, I am out of breath.....
My point is this, (and I speak from experience): Former JW's are pretty raw. And thus, easily exploitable on internet boards by trolls.
Trolls see this. They know you and I are (were) in pain. So they say idiot stuff to challenge you, like "You left the truth scumbag. You are gonna die. I have the truth." Or "I know you are, but what am I?"
Trolls come in a lot of varieties. I will touch on two. Trolls who are bored and want to play with our delicate psyche's like so much cat nip. And other who are JW's, disobey the GB by coming on here and wanting to mix it up.
Both kinds among others tick us off.
We either defend ourselves, which for the most part is silly, because they aren't here to debate, they just want to imagine you frothing at the mouth. Or we sometimes think that lurking JW's see this and somehow might want to stay or go back because of what these trolls do.
So let me give you one perspective as a former lurker.
I lurked for months on this board. Read up. Saw the D R A M A. I also read many great posts from Farkel, Alan F, Leolaia. I knew why I was here. I didn't really care about the trolls. If anything, I was really hoping that none of them were in my congregation. If you were worried about me, I promise you, trolls only made me want to leave more. I recognized their smell.
Lurkers are smarter then you think. And lets face it, if and when they leave JW's, it won't be because of the drama here. They have enough drama in their life.
If they ask for advice, give it to them. If a troll wants to tick them off, let them try. It's all part of the process with this cult. You or I wanting it to be different, wanting leaving to be different, doesn't change much of anything.
Trolls suck, only if you let them piss you off. I sort of like the mood lately. They want to play? Play with them. Or ignore them. But don't overrate what your response will do or mean to former JW's, current lurking JW's, or trolls.
Lurkers will do what they will when they are ready to do it. Some who leave even say here. Don't sweat it. And don't let it affect your enjoyment of this board.
To all the lurkers, hey there. Don't be scared. I know you have been taught that invisible stuff will fly out your computer for being here and give you spiritual Ebola. That ain't true.
To all trolls. You all are fun. Here's some yarn, go play.
Peace to all, and to all a good night!

Hi Brizzy. I apologize that I haven't read your story, I just got an overview from it on this thread. What you have gone through is horrible, but you sound strong.
It is my observation that so many of us who leave go through stages. It isn't my place to judge, or even to imply anything. If you want to wear jewlery like this, I say, go girl!
I hope that the angry part is a stage, however long it lasts, because there is a lot to life that you can experience after you deal with the issues of being raised as a JW and of course, the molestation.
I get why you want to wear the jewlery.
You sound pretty cool. I wish you the best.
