Oh yeah, I am going to say it now. Troll.
As an ex elder, I advise you to resign both as a Ministerial Servant and a Jehovah's Witness.
As someone who doesn't believe you, I advise you to get out of your pajama's and look for a job.
the topic is- "young people: serve jehovah wholeheartedly".. i'd appreciate various points that would make this talk appealing to my cong.
youths, but please keep it within jw boundaries because i don't want to give my elders any hint of me being an apostate yet.. i have to say that i am still enjoying my newly given "priviledges'', and am still so surprised that holy spirit has'nt pointed me out yet.. agbm.

i just watched this movie on video this weekend.
always meant to see it and just got around to it.
it was a brilliant movie, but not at all what i was expecting.. it's a story of a man who lives in a world where everyone says what is on their mind all the time, to the point of brutal honesty (no, i am not sleeping with you.").
Hey andy5421, I said the first big lie in the movie was over relilgion. The first lie his charecter told was at the bank, you are correct.
could it be the holiday weekend and they don't have anything better to do?.
Lol.
I just hope everyone realizes that most will sound the same and that doesn't necesarrily mean trolls.
Hey, nothing like hanging out with apostates, trying to prove right what we already learned to be wrong. Tons of fun......
the new, new, new, new light on the generation: just believe it -- or else!.
the watchtower, august 1st, 2001 issue, page 14, paragraph 8:.
"first, since oneness is to be observed, a mature christian must be in unity and full harmony with fellow believers as far as faith and knowledge are concerned.
I wonder if the GB realizes the fatigue that this damn doctrine has had on their flock. The part that doesn't care, doesn't care. The part that does care, doesn't want to hear another change.
The next time they change this should be via message in a bottle. The finder of it will automatically be appointed as a CO. (unless its a sister, then she gets to be the COW.)
we were told that the right corporate "doctrine" makes the right group activity.
but words attributed to jesus at matthew 7 make me wonder if jesus wasn't discouraging that.
a small sample--.
It should be noted that no Christian religion looks to the gospels for the structure of their particular church for the most part. It's all between Acts and Revelation.
It is my opinion that Jesus was against the group think mentality that led to the putting religious power into the hands of a few thanks to the oral traditions. Remember, Jesus said in Matt in the Sermon on the Mount "You heard it was said...". That was the oral law of the Pharisees.
Jesus wanted his disciples to feel first, to love, AND think. If people got together as a result of being a disciple of Christ (according to my reading of the gospels) was never the point.
Now Paul and the Apostles on the other hand, it could be argued, had a very deep interest in the control that the establishing of the church would provide. And lets face it, Paul was not a laid back dude. He was a control freak. (a mysoginistic control freak)
just sharing something that occurred to me this weekend.. i love to go to bookstores.
barnes and noble's is the one closest to where i live, although there are a couple of independent bookstores downtown that i like as well.. i have to admit that at times, i feel overwhelmed when i look at all the books.
next to rush limbaugh's latest is al franken's latest.

I love to go to bookstores. Barnes and Noble's is the one closest to where I live, although there are a couple of independent bookstores downtown that I like as well.
I have to admit that at times, I feel overwhelmed when I look at all the books. Next to Rush Limbaugh's latest is Al Franken's latest. Liberals and Conservatives, Theists and Atheists all take pot shots at each other.
Oh, I am sorry, that wasn't the fiction section, where I run to for cover.... ;)
What it informs me of is this: In spite of some deeply held beliefs I have, most people in the world feel differently, as represented by these books and those who buy them. (interestingly, I doubt the political books in particular are purchased by anyone other then those that already agree... sort of a weird circle of life that makes Beck and Hannity millions for repeating themselves over and over again...)
It isn't reasonable to argue my position beyond a certain point. Sure, I will resist anyone who says I can't believe what I want, and I will be happy to discuss my opinions with those of an open mind.
But to try to convince (for example) a Christian theist that the earth wasn't created in 6 days, no thanks. I am only interested in keeping that out of public schools. Thats all. I can't help the ignorant from themselves.
To convince a social conservative that the gay and lesbian population isn't a threat to society? Not interested. Now, don't try to deny them their rights and privileges that you grant to others. And don't fan the flames of persecution against them. But I know, prejudice will always be there. I have seen it. It routinely makes it's way on the NY Times bestseller list.
It's a good reminder for me to pick my battles, and live and let live.
I love books. :)

It is a comedy, but it has a very compelling side story. You see, the first big "lie" was when Ricky Gervais character was at his dying mothers bedside. She is very scared, and too comfort her, he tells her that her death is not the end, and that she will live on in love and in comfort. (don't want to give too much away here...) Doctors overhear this, and because it is assumed that no one can lie, it is automatically believed.
In other words, The Invention of Lying is a movie where the invented lie is the precepts of organized, Christian religion.
It is hilarious from there, in the vein of Monty Python, very British humor, I might add, and very compelling.
This isn't meant to comment on it per se, but the movie does make some potentially uncomfortable points about the willingness of members of organized religion to believe almost anything, even beliefs that are in effect, diametrically opposed to each other.
Highly recommended.
my wife and i are finishing reading an excellent book titled " deep healing " by emmett e. miller, m. d. the essence of this book is showing how our mind and body works in synchronicity with our mental health affecting our physical well being.. he also addresses the issue of how " group mentality " or peer pressure can influence seemingly " normal " people to totally ignore reality and allow a " group " of people to coerce them into believing an untruth.
this experiment was conducted in a college by psychology professors .
called the " red hatted thief " it went as follows :.
Two independent thinkers can and often will disagree over seemingly simple and potentially trivial things.
Independent thinking in of itself isn't a virtue. It can save oneself from the dangers of group think religions and cults.
Independent thinking imo is only valuable if it is coupled with intellectual and emotional honesty. Thats a difficult line to walk across I suppose, but I don't see how it can be any other way.
members of the second group of annointed will be alive to see the end, or so they are now saying, therefore the youngest member of the anointed alive today is the key here.
how old is the youngest accepted annointed person today?
they can't be any younger than 50-ish, surely.
JW's will be around as long as there are people around.
For all of their bumbling with their "generation" teaching, JW's are a surprisingly generational bunch, divided by the distinct era's of the cults history.
No member in the 20's and 30's would be in the group if they held to most of their doctrine. It changed so much. Ditto the Knorr era, the Fred Franz ghost writing years after WWII, up to 1975. 3 times since 1994, they have changed the generation doctrine.
Each generation of JW's is uniquely its own. It's an odd dichotemy. My generation that stuck around in their 30's are missionaries, CO's, trying to raise kids and make sense of the cult while trying to live a life somehow. They have to deal with older generations still dealing with their own (unspoken) disappointment that the end isn't here.
This group, like most religions, will not explode out of existence. They will eventually wind down, and probably change their name or be absorbed into another religion that springs up in the future. That religion will probably need real estate property in NY state.....
just setting the record straight.
there is another thread that notes a claim on wiki that said that ray has died.. he had a stroke yesterday, and is in the hospital.
he is still alive.
