Michael Jackson and Venus and Serena Williams were/are associated with JW's. By all means, we should investigate that next.

What is the most offensive/idiotic piece of WT literature you've read from the past 20 years (approximately)?
by Chemical Emotions ini think that some of the dumbest were ones that pertained to science- not all of them, but a few, particularly the ones about evolution.
the most offensive (and also dumbest) were the ones about women, and the ones about rape.
those were horrible.

Haven't sniffed a new WT in 5 years. I smell clean....
For me before I left, I guess the Revelation book is a good reference point on what Gilead is like. Everything is tied into the GB, and of course, it's all bullshit. That is offensive to the mind. The attempts at commentary on Isaiah too, very stupid and non practical and an absolute waste of time.
The YPA book is very offensive because it causes mentally disturbed views of what should be a normal growing up process. Instead, you are essentially told not to look at yourself naked in the mirror and listen to all JW constituted authority, unless your parents aren't JW's, in which case you can disobey them....
The updated Great Teacher book had that very controversial part on child molestation, which offended a lot of householders who read it. (and rightly so, that is a prime example of the GB thinking that their shit smells good.... There were many at Bethel who were genuinely confused as to why that wasn't taken so well....)
I think Discreet Slaves points are good ones. Can't hold hands during a prayer? My ex wife would have been jumping up and down at that one....

This convention blows
by Anony Mous inseriously, half day in (already had an argument with the wife this morning about individuality in the organization in which she conceded that a lot of it is based on looks) and this is already getting on my nerves.
i'll post a rebuttal based on my annotations later in the week but one thing i got to get off my mind: saying the feminist movement (women going to work instead of staying home) and the diversity laws (allowing for homosexuality - but also religious freedom, racial discrimination etc.
) caused a lot of the problems in our world right from the stage.. there are less people here than last year - about 500 less..

I'll be honest, I was one of the lucky JW's who had the right look, and got to work a lot at DC's. I could never sit there for 3 straight days. Or 4 like they used to be. They are a complete joke.
GB 2.0 has taken such control of the message that there is no room for brothers to use outlines anymore. All of the talks are mostly rehearsed. Only a few trusted elders don't have to run their talks past the program overseer, etc.

Good point j hover. They do tend to be younger in Latin America and E Europe.

There have been those in the 1970's who were as young as 17 in some cases. I just turned 19 when I was appointed. It's very rare, but it still happens. Being a Regular Pioneer is a must.

ATJeff Answers Letters from JW Readers
by AllTimeJeff ini didn't want to hijack billy x's attempt at hijacking another thread directed to our apostate terrorist, reinna.
this is a parady that only ex jw's could possibly appreciate.
whether you appreciate my macabre sense of humor is entirely another matter.

I had an emotionally abusive and sometimes physically abusive father
by gubberningbody inhe is/was a big man, intelligent affable and charming at times and yet inconstant and scary at other times.. years later in explanation to me he said.... "you know i loved you.".
i said in reply:.
"what does that matter if i didn't feel loved?".
-
AllTimeJeff
What does it matter if someone tells you that God loves you and yet you just don't feel loved and you don't see any evidence that he loves the world either?

Sorry, I couldn't leave this alone, and as someone who did blow up the bridge, I want to comment on this.
"When reading some posts on this board, I’m getting the strong impression some people which left the JWs would be better off if they didn’t (at least not now). And some others give everyone new here the advice “get out out out, now now now” regardless of the personal situation of the individual. The hate for the WTS seems to be bigger than the concern for the troubled person."
Some people will not be better off being a JW or not. It's a false dichotemy to suggest that an unhappy person, or a person in an unhappy situation, will fix it simply by leaving JW's.
Same if you stay.
The fact is, if one as an adult chose to believe JW's and converted, you have/had issues.
If you choose to stay, it isn't because you believe it as the truth, right? Then I promise you one thing: Do what you want, but you die a little every day you have to pretend to be someone you are not.
