  Jehovah's Witnesses can celebrate Christmas now!

  well, not yet, but if the governing body decides that it's okay to celebrate christmas and birthdays .... how do you suppose the typical jw would feel ... especially those who lived their whole life being told to not celebrate and.

  wishing they could?.

  What Was The Silliest "Offense" That You Were Counseled For?

  when i was a teenager, i was told by an elder that because i smiled a lot and was known for my good sense of humor, that i should come across as "more serious".

  so before i was appointed a ms, while in my late teens, i transformed myself into a much more "serious" brother.. were you ever told that you needed to work on something that you knew was stoopid?.

  Aside from receiving "counsel" for "independent thinking" and omitting things from public talk outlines, I think these 2 top them all:
  
  1. I got pulled into the back room for "counsel" one night after a meeting because someone told the elders that they heard me promoting a blood drive on the air. It turned out to be the announcer that came on after me.
  
  and then

  2. One night, a couple of elders get me in the back room because one of them had heard me say on the air, "good stuff from Shania Twain", as in when we play songs we'll sometimes say "hot new music from so-and-so" or "good stuff from so-and-so". The elder said that saying "good stuff" in connection with Shania Twain might be considered a sexual reference. After he said that, I just said, "This is a joke, right?" I really thought they had to be pulling a prank. But they were serious.

  question - scriptures that prove a paradise earth

  i was hoping for some help on proving that a paradise earth is in fact a true teaching.

  i've only found 3 that use the word "paradise" - but not sure if it refers to an earthly paradise.. thanks!.

  There are many articles that advocate lying or stretching the truth, but ONLY if it is to protect the organization. But you'll definitely want to check out the Insight book under "Isaac". When Jacob "deceives" his dying father by making him think that it was actually Esau at his bedside...the Insight book tried to apply that incident to matters that concern the organization.

  Plus anyone with computer skills are welcome to "serve" in Brooklyn. Graphic design is becoming a specialized skill that is hard to find within the organization because of their looking down on higher education. Plus older people are more expensive in the long run because of higher health costs. The Watchtower, like any other corporation/organization, wants to have the most low-maintenance employees that they can find, and then when the cost gets to be too great, just throw them back out into the world. The genius of it is that the mindless followers see it as God's arrangement.

  i was told it was like mixing with bad association , i found that quite laughable considering all the scandal that went on in the congregation , it made eastenders look very tame , im suprised they could not see it for themselves ,how hypocritical it all was

  The real reason is that a soap is the kind of show that you can't just watch once. You get hooked on the plot and if you miss even one episode, then you're lost on what's going on. The Watchtower can't have that kind of time being spent on anything other than door-to-door and meetings. You'll notice that much of what is prohibited by the Watchtower are time-consuming activities. The Watchtower can't afford for members to think that it's OK to take a whole Saturday off for boating/fishing...

  there are two main understandings of the 70 weeks in daniel 9. that is applied to antiochus iv epiphanes and the sacking of jerusalem in 168bcthat it foretold the coming of the messiahwhen was this first seen to be a prophecy regarding the coming of the messiah?

  was it before or after the event?

  were any jews expecting the messiah in 30ad based on understanding this as a prophecy?.
