What was your 1st Deception as a JW?
by JH inwas was the first thing that really decieved you, in your jw years?.
was it the way you were treated, or maybe a teaching that deceived you ?.
i think my 1st deception was when they said that the resurrected ones wouldn't be allowed to get married in the new system.. then i wondered why ???

I was at Bethel early 70's,,the preaching about '75 was high, people "popping in" the organization like never before, my mom had died of cancer,,she would be resurrected soon. Then the WTS bought the huge Squibb building down the street. I asked how quickly are "we" going to be utilizing all that space. The response was that it would take "years." Somehow, it didn't make sense to me. Yet, it took more years for me to "unravel" the rest of the issues/contradictions before I said to myself "that's enough, I'm done!"

I would hope that Danielle Delzer (in the article Danny posted) sets the example for JW youth to wait for baptism at least till older (not 10/11) and goes to college and hopefully get a career and have a Plan B.

So 95 baptized out of 8785? Is that about 1% increase? Could have 95 at least quit publishing during that time? Possibly.

by AlphaOmega inokay, here goes.... i've seen many many many references to kool-aid here, such as "don't drink the kool-aid" etc etc but i can't work out what it's all about.. but, my imagination tells me that maybe someone went to a memorial meal, "partook of the emblems" and discovered that it wasn't wine, but kool-aid.. am i right or is there something else going on?.

I still "shutter" even after 20+ years of leaving the WTS the control that was on me,,that I would have died for JWdom,,on the blood issue if it had even come up. Some of my friends now have said I probably would have taken it (transfusion) if it was necessary. I inform them thank you for the compliment as I have come a long way but I know I would not have taken a transfusion then at all cost.

IN BRIEF
Sextuplet parents lose appeal
Staff
June 2, 2007
Vancouver -- - The parents of sextuplets born in Vancouver in January have lost an application for leave to appeal a decision that blocks them from cross-examining doctors on why blood transfusions were given to four of the surviving babies.
The parents, who are devout Jehovah's Witnesses, turned to the B.C. Court of Appeal after the Supreme Court ruled that doctors from B.C. Women's Hospital & Health Centre could provide evidence through affidavits, without appearing for cross- examination.
Shane Brady, the parents' lawyer, had argued in the Court of Appeal that being able to cross-examine the doctors was a matter of fundamental justice.

The Story of Minimus
by minimus inwhen i was a teen, i aspired to be an elder.
from my pre-teens until i was 18, i was in every circuit assembly and district convention----having either ministry school talks or parts or experiences.
at 20, i conducted a bookstudy in the afternoon, also regular pioneered, was the theocratic ministry school overseer in the 2nd school and regularly taught the main school.

Sure enjoyed you and other ex-elders sharing their experience. I think someone here said it was brought out at an "elder meeting/school" (whatever it is called now) that elders have dropped 30+% in 12 years. Many step out due to "health" but I wonder how many step out due to a "crises of conscience" actually. Many tho could still be in "JW Limbo."

Can't have kids while working at Bethel? This is like Anti-family right?
by NotaNess ini found out about this a couple years ago.
it was one of those shockers, that is just hard to accept when you hear about it, when you're not in the "truth".. i posed the question, "why can't they just have a daycare system setup.
seems that would be a standard setup", but one witness from bethel told me "cause it's not the responsibility of the organization to raise our kids".

If a couple gets pregnant at Bethel, they have to leave. Yayyy!!! I did that!! Believe me, it is for the best for the child and mother. Anyway, the children would steal the show, the GB wouldn't like that.

what's in it for the women???
by chelsea ini have often wondered what's in it for the women???
i just read the story of minimus and it is so clear that such power and privilege on offer to males in the borg would be enticing and probably addictive... but the women will never have such offers or opportunities.
they will always be required to be in subjection.

Rutherford clearly stated women were a "bag of bones & a hank of hair." One older gal in the congregation in the mid-70's was still complaining/resentful about that but still stuck in the WTS.
