What is scary, is that in the US there are 12,300 congregations, there is an alleged 23k+ molesters,,that's almost 2 per congregation, scary...The WTS in their news release today mentioned the number of 'caught' elders sued, and not to mention of possible ministerial servants, pioneers or others. Since I have grown & left the WTS, I have learned of one congregation servant molesting decades ago, one elder molesting & has since died and one circuit overseer sexually accosting a young teenage boy, who has since grown and has since died.

Elder Pedophiles that you personally know of . . .
by JK666 inafter the ambiguous response by the wts to the nbc broadcast, i would like to know how many of you had an "elder chester molester" in your own congregation?.
we had an elder that molested his daughter's best friend when she was 14 years old.
the elders in the congregation tried to keep the matter quiet and handled the matter privately.

November 21, 2007Jehovah’s Witnesses care for victims of child abuse
For the sake of the victims in these cases, we are pleased that a settlement has been reached. Our hearts go out to all those who suffer as a result of child abuse. Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwide are united in their abhorrence of this sin and crime.—Romans 12:9.
We do not condone or protect child molesters. Our elders expel unrepentant sinners who commit this crime. (1 Corinthians 5:13) In the United States, over 80,000 elders currently serve in over 12,300 congregations. (Acts 20:28) During the last 100 years, only eleven elders have been sued for child abuse in thirteen lawsuits filed in the United States. In seven of these lawsuits against the elders, accusations against the Watchtower Society itself were dismissed by the courts. Of course, one victim is one victim too many. However, the incidence of this crime among Jehovah’s Witnesses is rare.
Congregation elders comply with child abuse reporting laws. (Mark 12:17; Romans 13:1) We do not silence victims. Our members have an absolute right to report this horrible crime to the authorities. The October 2007 issue of our monthly journal Awake! features the cover series, “Keep Your Children Safe!” These articles clearly show our concern for protecting children from sexual abuse.
Here, this release by the WTS was only released today, not because of concern in protecting the children..only because it was on national tv news today. What liars that they "are pleased that the settlement" was reached. Only because of court action did they do such a thing for the victims. They claim here only 11 elders have been sued (at least 'caught' so far) ..They silenced the victims with a 'gag' order. They say the elders 'expel unrepentant' molesters, but I guess not if the molesters just say they are sorry. The GB really still downplay their responsibility in this, so sickening. The October 2007 only speak of parents protecting their children, but no discussion of what the organization will do, support or suggest to parents should a molester violate a child in the organization.

Are there any Bethelites or ex-Bethelites here?
by Hiddenwindow inif so, here is a question for you: what absurd rules do they have at bethel that do not apply to the rest of the witnesses?

I was called the 'hippie' pioneer because I wore snow boots that went almost to the knee back in the 60's. No JW sisters wore high boots then. I'd laugh & just say I was sure I was the warmest sister out in service then. Then, there was no comment. Brrrrrr!

Why does the WT society not open its own non blood hospitals?
by Gill inwhy does the watch tower society not build and operate its own hospitals for its people who refuse to have blood in their treatment programme?.
surely, if bloodless surgery and treatment is so superior and they could prove it with their own statistics and survival rates they could show that blood should not be used.. so, what are they afraid of?.
-
Gayle
The WTS should put their money where there mouth is. If no blood is always better and no blood has God's blessings, what a proof they would have with their own hospital for such. Of course, finding JW doctors for such would be difficult as there is almost a ban for college for their young, especially to be doctors. Of course, the greater problem would be for those 'emergency' surgeries and transportation & timeliness realities.

Thank you for your story, Lisa. My parents moved in '59 from California to South Dakota having the "going where the need is greater" fever and lived on half the budget there than in CA.. then 4 yrs later moved back to CA. JW world was our whole life, and we kids (4 of 5) later pioneered & went to Bethel (late 60's thru 70's). By 70's - 80's, we kids started a re-evaluation of it all, reflecting on our whole story. It was so absurd the WTS denial of responsibility regarding '75, blaming it on the 'brothers'. By early/mid 80's we were out absolutely, even Dad was disfellowshipped for apostasy (Mom had died in '70 of cancer).. We are all grateful that our 15 children between us are all free of JW, with few memories when they were very little, having the normal life of school, sports, college, enjoying life in it stages. So many best wishes to you.

Question: Who verifies the Annual Partakers Report?
by Bourne inthis thought just occured to me.
since within the jw community, it is so fragmented so as to keep any one person from having the complete operating picture, what keeps the partakers number around the 8000 mark?
could they not just as easily continue to reduce the number in a moderate way so as to keep the pressure on?
-
Gayle
We can only guess on what they want to do with the partakers report anymore, now that that calling is still "open".

That is comical about the CO suggesting to read 'everything' possible about any subject back then. Because of people like you they had to print the Sept OKM, to command everyone there to 'not' search everything. The GB can't handle researchers like you. I am glad you now can have your freedom of thought and that your intelligence is not stifled anymore. How any one doesn't get bored with that same-o same-o stuff just shakes my head.
