Unless former JWs start reading A LOT, like Crisis of Conscience, Hassan's books, etc. and read and read, otherwise I always suspect they could go back when in a rough spot. This would be especially so for young ones, though now grown. We, as young children, read and read the WT literature/entanglements all our growing years and millions of brain cells (lines of thought) got snarled. We need lots of facts and educated understanding to 'override' WT thinking.

Great Meetup in Phoenix AZ yesterday!!

it was filmed but sensitivity was certainly given for those there, were several there, who could not be filmed because of jw family yet.

It was filmed but sensitivity was certainly given for those there, were several there, who could not be filmed because of JW family yet. There were tears of empathy and understanding. There was also much joy in gathering together and expressions of support to others there that are enduring heartbreak because of JW shunning. There was a wholesome sharing of humor that only ex-JWs would understand.
Kathleen Conti came also and what a wonderful mom of a wonderful daughter!! Others there, one that have written books, or another with experience even talking to the media.
Actually a lot of energy was displayed and strengthening. The purpose indicated sincere support for ones leaving JWs and giving awareness about the facts of the Watchtower's primary most hateful behaviors.

makes me wonder,,what some local elders might know about within that family group,,I read they were in Philadelphia also for awhile.
Just, what does these high profile cases of kidnapping & rape of this Cleveland case and Jaycee Dugard case have also in common,,Jehovah's Witnesses! I can't help about wondering about the JW elders in those congregation areas now. Did they cover up any child molestions in the past? Didn't tell authorities because of WT policy, could have even DF'd but didn't tell anyone why.

Trying to handle my JW mom

she, being a jw does not have means to support herself and does not seek higher education ( because that would take from her studies ).
so, she is living ( sponging off of ) me.

If your mom was 'physically' abusing your children, would you in all good conscience move her out of your house. She is already emotionally scaring your daughter. She's got to go.
Perhaps there's another older gal in congregation, that she can move in with?

I know JWs complain, about the media,, that the media will dramatize an horrible event that was caused by a JW (or related one), but JW don't feel if such a case was done by a Catholic or someone of another religion that the media don't mentioned that. Not true, when it is someone working for a church, is a minister, etc, that is definitely mentioned. (Westboro Baptist, Muslim, Mormon. FLDS, Scientologist, the list goes on)
First, JW make themselves a "Public" people,, calling at people's homes. (that takes a lot of guts or more. mind control) The organization calls all of them a "minister" at baptism. JWs then have the gall/audacity to preach (in their literature) that they are the best people,,that they only have the "truth." JWs denounce all others as false, pagan, and that all others, including children, worthy of death "soon." They put their opinions above educational instructors and medical doctors, who they want to teach their children and who they turn to in their time of need on health concerns. Yet, they remain arrogant.
If you put yourself in public and saying audacious things, then there's a reaping karma, or the like.

my friend has been studing with the jw's on and off for about 11-12 years i think.
she has told me everytime i see her that she can't wait for jehovah to end this evil world...she can't wait for the new system...the end is so close....etc.. i sent her a message back telling her that i left the jw's and asked her if she had heard that.
