While at Bethel in the early 70's, Ray gave the best morning talks,(they took weekly turns),all the others just repeated what was in the literature already(boring). But,Ray (also of the humblest), was a researcher and was the most stimulating (as coffee was served only after ). His wife, Cynthia, was of the most loving, humble, honest-hearted,,hospitable,,down to earth sisters there. She and I worked together in housekeeping and took occasional breaks together. I left Bethel in '74 with so many pieces of the puzzle, yet Ray's "Crisis of Consciences" put it all together for me.

Evaluating Raymond Franz
by greendawn inwhat do you think of ray(mond) franz?
i have seen here some people critisise him as not being a really heartfelt opponent of the wts, but my view is that he was quite honest about his expressed motives against the cult.
with his revelations he gave a lot of momentum to the ex jw movement (the apostate organisation according to the jws) and offered valuable assistance to those seeking to shake off the ideological and social dependance on the oppressive cult.

Disfellowshipping - How long to return?
by CaptK indoes anybody know how long it takes for one to get re-instated if you are not that well liked by the body of elders?
i was disfellowshiped for immorality almost 2 years ago.
with my job and attending college to keep in step with my field of work, i have only been attending the sunday talk & wt meeting every week.

Who needs friends that have a need to "tattle" on you, to condemn you,,they are like the friends of Job. You can find a true friend for you through the good, the bad and the ugly.. A few true good friends is much better than 6 million "brothers & sisters" that are conditional & condemnatory, self-righteous capable of turning on you at any time. Take care.

The WTS society admits that the door to door ministry is inefficient
by cultswatter inlook at what the scans below say.
that publishers spend considerable gas and insurance and time to go from door to door to place the odd magazine or book.
in reality the jw publisher is footing the whole bill and then some.. the jw publisher has to spend about 100 dollars per month for every dollar from donations received for literature sold at the door.. i know this to be true as i used to flog books at the door.

In a clip on the "Knocking" the director asked if there's a lot of extra footage on the DVD,,he with humor said something like sure especially on the door to door parts they did,,"because nobody's home" and he laughed & the Q&A audience (I think were mostly JWs) laughed,(because they know it's true). was sick they don't see that "fully" about the waste of time & energy and production.

"HOPE"
It gives me hope. Reading everyone's comments, of all kinds, posting their experience and giving exposure to the WT organization, getting to voice opinion. It's therapeutic, a breath of fresh air. I believe it has a part to affecting the WT.
I just read an article (http://www.readingeagle.com/re/john_smith/1624846.asp) quoting Justice Robert Jackson in 1943: "Those who begin coercive elimination of dissent soon find themselves exterminating dissenters. Compulsory unification of opinion achieves only the unanimity of the graveyard."

I am following this case,,I am glad you got this "url" up on the Forum,,I can't figure how to cut & paste on to this Forum. Of course, their Leader is in prison now,,yayy,,,I suspect their Leader will only say (lie) that is the mother's choice, not his. But we know the mind-control tactic that cultic leaders have over their people.

I ordered the DVD "Knocking" so I could critique it with intention to send letters to PBS. Thank you for your copy and the response. Great job!! Do you think JWs will get an interest from people because of the program?

That feeling that it could al be false how did you experience it?
by GBSJG inwhen i started researching i was still convinced that jws had the truth.
so i read some critical articles by ex-jws about certain teaching and i started to do some more research.. at this time i have successfully faded and no longer believe anymore.
but i can remember the moment when i first allowed the thought in my mind that it could all be false and not the truth.

by DannyHaszard inmy reason for this thread is to provide a bird food backup source growing up jw da birds were big.if i misbehaved as a small child my adult jw family members would 'put the fear of jehovah in me' by reminding me of jehovah & da birds.

I came home from school '59-'60 (about 12 yrs old) crying because the kids called me a "communist" for not standing up to sing a patriotic song in music class. We had a circuit overseer and his wife staying with us that week.. the circuit overseer's wife just said "well, after Armageddon, then you'll have 'your' chance to say,,why aren't you standing up now?!" As hurt as I was,,this vision did not comfort me at all.

I don't worry about the future like before,,I believe things are in God's hands in his way,,that good wins in the long run.....Hitler went down,,USSR went down (I didn't think I'd ever see that in this world!),,Ireland and Northern Ireland are working together now,,good things can happen all of sudden or slowly,,Lies get exposed,,maybe not all but a lot do,,there's a lot of bad certainly, sometimes individuals can do something about, individually or in groups,,many things in our personal life to improve is up to us,,tho sometimes I look at the "bad" list and then must look at the "good" list, which is the longer list, than dwelling on the bad things. I don't have to look for an "end times" to find happiness and contentment and thankfullness for each day.
