I consider it wasted otherwise I would have to recommend it, no way! You don't smoke, great, all of my non-JW friends don't smoke. A good speaker, great, I think that was your inclination anyway, I was a JW, giving (sister) talks for years even at assemblies, assigned morning text comments at Bethel, I don't still consider myself a good speaker anyway. Married a great person within JWs, wonderful,,please give all the credit to that individual and not JWs (some of us were not that 'lucky'). I give no credit to the JW organization for yours & mine plusses, achievements, (valuable) knowledge, only had to spend time having to unravel so much 'junk'.

Do you consider your time as a JW wasted time??
by karter inmany of us have devoted a lot of time and energy to the jw's at the expense of other things like education , planing for retirement , family time just to name a few.. i don't consider it all wasted time there was a lot of good i learnt however i'm doing things now as a jw i never would have.. i don't have the same time pressure and never fell guilty about taking a lot of time out for myself as one elder said to me"if we don't keep you brothers real busy in the work of the kingdom you get swallowed up by the world" .

The kingdom halls where are they headed?
by moomanchu inwhat is happening to the kingdom halls?
where you live, are they declining or prospering?
you may hear claims of revival, and reports of swelling congregations occasionally come from such places as africa, eastern europe, and the united states.

Does the watchtower need to loosen up
by jacethespace indo most jehovahs witnesses have a problem with having a sense of humor?or should i say a lack of it?.
i had an intresting experience a while back ive been thinking about after not going to meetings for a number of months and developing my own " independant thinking" and breaking from watchtower control.. i met with an elder at home and had a chat with him and during the conversation i commented on a funny cartoon sketch i saw about religion.he laughed with that strange programmed laughter i noticed before in the tower and then made a comment which got me really suspicous , he said " yeah we have got a sense of humor in the truth as well and can have a laugh".i remember thinking he had said that after encountering something that he found alien to the truth.from me and my own independant thinking seprate from watchtower control.. was really strange the way it was said like he had noticed something good in me thats not in the watchtower and tried to justify himself to convince himself it was nothing.. its things like that that make me sit up and question the watchtower.. and one of my friends in the tower that has been in all his life hes in his forties and i have always found him quite funny beacause he has like this rebelious attitude about him that seems to go against the tower.hes always looking for an excuse to have a party and have fun and get people together in the cong.and for this people say about him that hes on the edge of the truth.actually they just dont have a sense of humor and seem to be anti life.why?.

Some congregation groups could have more fun with their 'get togethers' frequently. But I moved to where the need was greater and they wouldn't even allow a congregation picnic ever.

Appalling Mind Control Comment from CO
by betweenworlds ini just came across this comment by someone from a group i belong to .
we just had the visit of our co...his wife made this comment to me:.
"'as i was reading the very powerful articles in the last public issue of the wt with study articles...i couldn't help but imagine that the brothers are waving a goodbye to people!'...

COs are very responsible in pushing the hype of the end talks. They did it before '75 extremely and still do. And the GB and headquarters pushes the COs to keep the circuit numbers up or they'll get sent back to special pioneering. So most COs over-sensationalize their talks. I remember years ago after a circuit overseer was with the congregation for the week, my dad and I were talking that here we were working all the time for the 'truth', and he was a congregation servant then and I was a pioneer, and the circuit overseer still made us feel like crap. I remember one circuit overseer having lunch with a group of us Bethelites one time and he said the first thing he was going to do in the new world was toss his bookbag away as far as he could. We all laughed as we all identified with that. Soon after he was assigned to Bethel, some years later he too left the organization.

I am the same as FreedomFrog, about my children,,my treasure,,but I wish I had chosen college instead of pioneering 5 yrs, tuition free with scholarship,,would have been definitely a 'fork in the road' for me,, fortunately 4 of 5 of my children have graduated college, last one to finish in a year(he went via Marines (Iraq) , my vindication as a mom and my pay back that the WTS didn't get any of them.

Burning Bridges here- got my baby back!!!
by burningbridges inyea!!!
i have my sweet little daughter back in my arms.
i've had her for two days actually, i was just too busy playing "cut the pickle tickle tickle" to write on here!

Happy you got your baby back! When I quit JWdom & quit going to meetings,,my inactive JW husband then starting taking all five of our children to the meetings for a time, they were all miserable. Thankfully, none of the children were baptized and thankfully all went to college instead, 4 completed & 1 has still another year to go. You have so much more positives for your child, like unconditional love,,something that little JW kids never get,,fun organized team sports, etc. more and and better education exposure and just getting to be a kid, which passes too quickly.

Need advice Memorial
by spoopy ini left the troof (forced df, i may tell the story in the future) i had absolutely no contact with my family for 7 years.
even after years of research and every day for years as a lurker on jwd, in a moment of weakness, because i thought i was missing something i went back.
i figured i could take the good and ignore the bad and everything would be o.k.

You could even partake this year,,now that 'they' re-opened the door of heavenly hope and they admit it wasn't closed after all in 1935. That would 'really' keep them guessing about you!
