Thank you, Spy! Wow, it's true, reading it and then listening to it comes across a little different, with all the intonation and JW emphasis. I think it'll spook them (R & F). I do remember back when, when many thought that the GB 'know more than we can handle.' Now I know all that they (GB) know and then some!!

people who strive to do [jehovah's/god's] will?".
"i don't understand all the doctrine, nor take it as seriously as you do, but .

The Governing Body is finally softening, getting sympathetic to their overburdened people. Door- to-door work is overburdensome and extremely unproductive for their people, maybe they could some day just suggest to 'casually' witness to people and drop the 'formal' door to door and possibly do 'other' forms of helping people. Well, the GB have along way to go to not be 'over-loading' their people.

Film "Worlds Apart," screened in NYC - GO SEE IT
by NYCkid inhello, just want to highly recommend the danish film, "worlds apart" now being screend at the tribeca film festival in new york.
the acting is superb and the filmakers represent the witnesses accurately (to the "t") withoug making them appear fanatic.
after all, these are people sincere in their beliefs no matter how absurd.

coming announcement!
by buffalosrfree inthe much looked for (or so it seems) announcement coming to the finale of a watchtower study near you, may just be the thing about the book study and if so due to the time of year it is (at least in the northern hemisphere) it would make a fine opportunity for one and all in the congregation to meet say 6-6:30pm to participate in the field circus.
that way more people would be a home and therefore there would be more people to (irritate) talk to.
who knows, whatever it is, if it is in fact a change, it won't be for the betterment of the rank and file publisher.

I don't expect the Book Study nights (Tuesday or whenever) will become field service nights but to a small %, pioneers, maybe some elders. Even back in the 60's very few (lonely) loyalists went in service in the evenings, like pre-book study nights and that didn't last.

Local needs: 40% of the congregation are irregular at meetings
by truthseeker inwell, our local needs talk was a bit out of the ordinary - normally it's something mundane like improving bible studies.. after harping on about the good things the congregation is doing, we got to the meat.. there are 100 publishers in the cong - 40% of them are irregular meeting attenders.. the elder said that those who are irregular at meetings are also irregular on field service.. he also said the elders would continue to shepherd these ones, yet most of us never get as shepherding call.. he said that those who've lost their joy feel this way because they don't fellowship often enough and lack appreciation for sacred things.. there are those who are liberal, manifest an independent spirit and have worldly associations.. he even said that those who need to hear this counsel are those who are missing.. .
oh well.
i suppose it's good news..

That's why with a good shaking from the top of the organization, that there could be an exodus of many at least. With the mind-control meetings going from 310 hours down to 210 hrs a/wk it could give some the time they need to 'think'. 'Frequency' of mind control it a strong tactic of cult success.

It may give some a chance to 'think,' (some self-thinking) to catch their wind, read a good interesting book, kids to have fun, even a stimulating television program (better than a dull same old-same old mind-control program). Mind control programs thrive on 'frequency' of their program (even commercialism knows that). Hopefully this will give some God-given personal time for those inclined.

Emotional Reactions to the Loss of the Book Study
by DT ini think the loss of the book study will hit some like a death of a friend.
it will mark the end of an era.
it will forever change the religion of jehovah's witnesses and i believe the change is completely irreversible.. of course, most witnesses will be delighted by this.

See, I would have loved this to happen 50 yrs ago. I mostly remember it being another evening of rushing, not the cozy things, had to dress up all the same anyway,,and just the same o same o of questions read, answers, paragraphs read. Okay maybe sometimes there was a cookie or two but not usually. I hope this gives a little more space for some personal 'thinking' time for some, maybe a little more fun time for the kids, some interesting reading for a change, and just some needed relaxing.
