I believe most of the people are trying to do the best they can most of the time.

Do you have faith in humanity?
by easyreader1970 inrealizing that there really is no yahweh deity and therefore no wonderful paradise in store for everyone, do you have faith in humanity?.
are humans going to hell in a handbasket?
usually i try to give them credit for trying, but then i realize that it seems to be relatively few people that seem to be trying to do anything to better themselves or the world in which they live.

The GB don't care about this little boy in Africa that died. As they really didn't care about the Malawians that suffered either when they at the same time winked at the Mexicans JWs that just could 'buy' themselves out of the military issue.

Bethelite: Elder burnout, R&F disillusionment led to book study change
by pseattle2 inplease visit the blog: http://governingbodyletters.blogspot.com/2008/05/bethelites-viewpoint-on-recent.html.
a bethelite's viewpoint on the recent organization changesto me the most obvious reason has nothing to do with control, or money.
it has everything to do with the serious shortage of qualified brothers who can (or who are willing to) be used.

But the crack down on anything internet has put a stop to almost all of the free discussion boards that used to be hosted by JW's, that I know of anyway. The society is very clear all independent thinking is to be crushed...I don't see many wanting to challenge them on it. The cost is too high.
Maybe 'free discussion' they felt they could do before and see it is not allowed now, but that doesn't mean they aren't "churning" inside. I remember that stage, it doesn't usually go away but will eventually become impossible to 'stuff.' It can be like a volcano erupting for individuals and surface (for some just smoke/ash, or others like slow flow of lava and sometimes explosive-relatively quickly).

the Youth book probably will really have a lot to say and forbid the kids to not going on the Internet..(My sermon is "Praise the Internet and pass the ammunition.)" I feel the Internet has empowered xJWs immensely.

Dublin, Ireland Hospital Faces 1m Bill Over Transfusion Case
by AndersonsInfo inireland .
coombe faces 1m bill over transfusion case.
thursday, 8 may 2008 17:29. the coombe women's hospital is facing a bill of over 1m for costs over its successful high court action in a recent blood transfusion case.. the case centred on whether the hospital was entitled to administer a necessary blood transfusion to a female member of the jehovah's witnesses faith, against her wishes.. in a landmark ruling last month, ms justice mary laffoy ruled the hospital had acted lawfully in getting a court order allowing it give the transfusion to the 24-year-old woman, who may be identified only as ms k.. the court also set out guidelines as to how hospitals, the courts and the state might address similar situations in the future.. the case was before the judge again yesterday to decide issues of the multi-million euro costs of the 37-day hearing.. the judge rejected applications by both the hospital and ms k to have their costs paid by the state.

So bottom line, the 'people', citizens, taxpayers pay as the JW woman won't be able to pay such costs,,and the hospital will have to pay their cost which ends up for the people to pay. The 'people' should be upset when JWs put these things to issue and to court. The JWs blood issue is costly, life-wise to JWs,,and money-wise to the 'people' who want to save them.

Congratulations to your daughter!! It's so wonderful to see xJWs' children going on to have their free mind and able to go on with their education and not getting stifled by the WTS. It's sad that she doesn't get that appreciation and respect from her JW relatives but she and you, her parents, have outgrown them. Some may even harbor a jealousy that she is going on with her life and getting a further education. I, too, have experienced the same thing, but I am proud (yes proud!) that my children have grown (4 of 5 have completed college, one still to complete next year) and have their freedom of thought, never were baptized in JW, and free of the negative baggage of their JW relatives.

Falling Asleep at Assemblies
by LouBelle inyes i have dozed off many times when i used to attend.
most of the time kept the shades on as we used to have outside assemblies.
the thing was not to slide off the chair, drop your head forward or snore.. i've seen some brothers/sister hitting a serious lean to the left or right as they slept and then they'd jerk awake, only to lean again.. some people had sneaky methods.

District Conventions are awful if you have kids. (Learn why!)
by easyreader1970 ini know that many of you have not been to distric conventions in some time, but what i am about to describe is a recent trend.. 1. more people than seats.
for the past six or seven years, they've tried cramming too many congregations into one convention hall at one time.
in many cases, if you do not get to the convention more than an hour before the program starts and you need more than a couple of seats, you cannot find seats.

I spent my youth at meetings and conventions. Then I became a parent and re-evaluation set in. I realized how nuts it was scrambling to meetings and assemblies. I looked at my small children, observing it didn't take much insight to see they were bored out of their brains (I was bored too), not just my children but I observed all the children there. Going back to the motel, and letting these suppressed kids come back to their youthful life in the pool or other activities and their joy could not be denied. Schools and even churches Sunday schools are realistic and have the wisdom to make learning stimulating & some fun too. Youth passes quickly and is a terrible thing to waste; having empty memories mostly of meetings, assemblies, and service is sad as nothing stands out with any much warmth or joy. Those JW programs are set up by men in Brooklyn who most have never had any children. I was at Bethel 5 yrs. and know for certain they know nothing of the personal reality of raising children, nor do they care. Thankfully, my children never got baptized, went to college and are JWdumb free.
