  My smart son and his response to his grandma! re: no more book study

  my son, who is 17, saw my mother while out in service on saturday and was shocked at the way she acted.

  he said she smiled and jumped out of the car, gave him a big hug and looked at the others in the car and said how much she loved him.

  needless to say, he was not fooled by her complete fake attitude and the show she put on for everyone.

  i visited phoenix when i was a kid and fell in love with the hot desert and big city.. i haven't been back since, so i'd like your take on phoenix now.. i've given up on houston, tx cuz it doesn't sound as nice as the desert..

  Actually 8 or 9 mos of the year is beautiful or at least very nice. To "snow bird" is best. Or during the summer to take a couple vacations to cooler areas (beaches or mountains) to break up the summer. Most everyone has air-conditioning, just about a necessity. But then, we don't have serious earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes, blizzards, long greezing winters. Until recent times, housing has been booming!

  WT backtracking fast on Book Study -High Gas Prices

  so tonight the congregation discussed the front page of the october km -the new meeting schedule.

  straight away it was emphasized it was not because of high gas prices that the meetings were being reduced.

  it was pointed out that in parts of the world the brothers do not have cars so it was not high gas prices.

  Wasn't there a letter scanned on this site of that letter? I thought it said something about due to "gas prices." The WT organization does make flat out statements and then deny it blaming it on the rank & file quite frequently - (remember '75).

  the local hall just gave a local needs talk on not circulating losch's talk that's been here on the internet as well as in a number of witness hands.

  evidently quite a few jws are listening to the tape, making copies and letting everyone hear it.

  well, the "faithful & discreet slave" has said not to do this any longer.

  U-tube is so great now. Years ago when speakers at assemblies said things in the past (like "1975" extremely pushed by circuit/district overseers and at assemblies) and , the organization could just deny it later because there sometimes was not as much "proof." Now with video & worldwide internet, including U-Tube, the organization's ridiculousness is now "caught" more quickly than ever.

  after 3 years of mental liberation for me, i feel that i am a fairly well rounded out person now.

  very happy within myself.

  my wife & i have had our ups & downs the past 3 years.

  You never know. Perhaps with your influence you can help to make your children to be able to "think", be educated, enjoy "real" positive life with other interests, work toward college, etc. If the children move on, then maybe she'll see the need to stick with her family and will see the "organization' really doesn't care about her.

  My Brother Needed Blood...

  a bit of history, my brother has completely faded and has been out for many years now.

  he has been smoking cigarettes, playing golf and going target shooting with worldly friends and workmates, and having joyful relations with as many women as he can.

  he got sick and they had to amputate about half of his foot.

  Glad your brother is getting better. It does amaze me how some basically leave JWs in association, habits, do their own thing and still will cling to a teaching or two of JWs. I know some who still cling to the blood issue as if it vindicates them in some way. Some have all the "worldly" habits, yet feel some righteous vindication that they still wouldn't ever do Christmas. Some still feel some righteous vindication that they would never "speak against the organization." It is very perplexing to me.
