Aiding Ex-Bethelites to Settle Down- Any Helpful Ideas?
by Scott77 inalot of recent posts have admireably focused on the plight of ex-bethelites kicked out to the curb without adequate educational, economical and financial support from the wts.
admitedly, many have spent a sizeable portion of their lives serving this selfish organisation until they were shocked with a one way ticket.
my questions are: what are ideas to help them achieve a 'soft landing' outside the wts?

Does anyone even know of any? I have been out many years now so I don't know any. I would think the ex-Bethelites would have to go through a period of time of bitterness and bewilderment, etc. before they would begin to consider leaving the organization altogether. They have had a double whammy of two dependencies (Bethel & WT organization).
Dealing with the financial world realities now will be an extremely big part for them to adjust. Local JWs will not or may not be able to help them much, work-wise/financially or for at least very long. Hopefully they have a way (Internet?) to contacting each other after leaving Bethel, and talking together over their plight and reality, maybe at best together form a class action suit.
I feel sorry for them. However, for some, this may be what it takes for them to actually finally see the need to review the organization for what it is actually, using everyone for free labor and the organization doesn't care about anyone's hardships on a personal level in reality. Hopefully, some will find their way here and cry out through the Internet and add their disappointing experience to the long list of the Watchtower Society's horrible deeds.

Breaking free and closure...
by RaraAvis ini have only been posting on this site for a short time, and haven't completely decided how i feel about it.
i have found it interesting to say the least, and have learned a lot from members such as andersonsinfo and others.
i have felt compassion for many who have posted here, have felt out of the loop by many others who have formed tight "friendships" with each other here, have been shocked by some users, have been inspired by others ... you get the idea... i have had a full spectrum of thoughts more or less.. however.... the one feeling i get the most is it reminds me of divorce, or when you split off from someone who mattered to you and you can't seem to let go.

If one compares the Watchtower experience to merely a human relationship that went sour then I see your point.
However, when you compare the experience to a robbing, lying SCAM affecting many peoples lives, destroying families, intimidating people to sacrifice even their life and the lives of their children, then for me, we are quite justified to expose the SCAM so that at least some people can be spared or to emotionally support people coming through the process on how to get out of the SCAM.

Mr. Hughes is winning. Maybe it seems an inch at a time. He is not just going away. The Watchtower organization would like us to just go away. But we will not, not quietly. Maybe it seems an inch at a time, a voice at a time but its exposure is certain.

I don't think any one man had the "control" or was "the boss" like Nathan Knorr, at least since Rutherford. He died and the organization has gone on strongly anyway. The "concept" has still gone on.

Hi I'm new here
by BloominMarvellous infeeling guilty already about being on here, the familiar words are recalled in my mind "don't go on any jehovah's witness websites except 'watchtower.org'!
so here i am, desperate for some help.
i'm 21 and have been studying for 2 years, i was made an unbaptised publisher in february and it was all going great until i had a problem with getting a little tipsy, the elders had to come scrape me off the floor of my witness friends house and take me home.

I am so glad you are feeling so much better! You are so smart to be able to reach out here. You are young and learning a lot. The Watchtower organization would only suppress and oppress you. It would only feed your depression and only say that going door to door would ever "fix" you but it doesn't. It's program would only say you are a good for nothing slave all your life. Be careful and smart about over drinking and sex but certainly forgive yourself. Have goals and healthy activities with friends that do too. Happy (belated) Birthday!!
