I don't like the person i am becoming...
by SpunkedTeen ini have not been active here lately just lurking mostly but i have no one to talk to and i need some help i guess.i started working out and became friends with my personal trainer(we went to school together).i started going out with him(lying to my mother about what i was doing, another thing to add to the list of lies,it's becoming too easy!
) and i notice i'm slowly becoming the worldy people that the jw's described.i've become very selfish and rude and very apathetic towards everything and everyone.i always thought the values that jw's taught were really good.if i cut ties with the only friend i have now , i would probably slip into a deep depression and i that is something that i want to avoid at all costs.i start university in january and my plan was to stick it out in the organisation until i got my degree and became fully independant but as of late a elder told me i am being considered to become a m.s and told me what i need to work on and since then the other elders have been nagging me to work on the same things.i'm trying to rid my self of my 'priveleges' in the cong but nothings working...if anyone has experienced a similar situation what advice would you give?
, oh and my mom was always super into the religion having been a pioneer and bethel worker for years but we went to the regional convention two weeks ago and now she is even more exasperating (for example a sister asked my why i was 19 years old and not a ms or serving at bethel yet, which is fine i've learnt how to deal with these questions but when i told my mother whom has always been content with me just being in the religion and never pushed me towards anything asked me if i was happy with what i was and if i would not be happier at bethel or regular pioneering.

You are at a great age to rebuild/develop yourself!! You have to find your positive personal interests!! Definitely keep your plan for university! Do you have a sport interest or hobby? The WT life will only fill you with 'nonfulfillments,' always waiting and waiting for 'their' better life that never comes. -

and no exciting 'statistics' in U.S., nor in the 8 islands that they often boast about? They just boast about their 'buildings' now-a-days.

Will they change the Yearbook format?
by freddo inpure speculation here but i'm wondering if - with the numbers flat-lining - that the gb will stop giving country by country stats, or perhaps at least some of the statistics.. we used to get a monthly stat in the km - then that was "simplified" to "highlights".
only the "good" stuff.
then with the new clam workbook, no stats at all.. i wonder if the yearbook will soon only contain "positive" spun stats.

Actually, for 'Avg.' Pubs, U.S. had '.7%' increase, but was rounded up to 1% in Yearbook.
Regarding "Peak" Pubs." from 2014 to 2015, was a .9% 'decrease'.

Moving to warwick: 1 Billion dollars in profits so far.
by StephaneLaliberte inat one point, the witnesses held 4.5 million square feet over 30 buildings.
they’re down to nine buildings, having made about $1.25 billion on staggered sales since 2004, according to the co.. http://therealdeal.com/2016/09/22/the-secret-to-jehovahs-witnesses-real-estate-success-maintenance-and-patience/.
warwick is 1.6 million square-foot.

So, Warwick Headquarters is 'not much more than a third' sq. ft. as previous total sq. ft. in Brooklyn.
Seems, the WT. could have saved a lot of time and money, and energies just selling 2/3 of property, and remained in Brooklyn. However, they apparently needed this diversion?

Shunning the Shunning
by Tallon infound this very interesting article on another site.
looks like there people, and at an assembly too, who are not afraid to show their displeasure to the inhumane policies of the org.. http://avoidjw.org/2016/08/shunning-the-shunning/.

How can a culture that depends on 'family' in every way accept such an evil doctrine! A mother depends on her family in her later years more in these cultures. It goes against all natural affection of a mother to shun her own.
I expect or hope this 'shunning' doctrine to be a 'near' downfall of the WT. The ice-cold hearted GB certainly don't care about mankind, family survival, and those who are in much lower economics.
I hope that many JW Ghanians will find this the last straw on considering any 'loyalty' to the GB.

I have understood that if anything "legal" by an attorney is given the to local elders, they must turn over info to Headquarters. Then, there is a protocol between attorneys to be followed. Is there anything in the Elders book stating to do that?
The couple cases I know from long ago, that the individuals then were never announced 'on the platform' as "disfellowshipped, disassociated." Though, they were 'off the record' df'd, at least some family members and a few friends felt they could be free to talk with ex-member yet because of no announcement.

Oh my! I knew Henni & Max. What a surprise to read this, this morning!! We were in the same congregation, a Milpitas, CA cong in mid '60s. She was newly baptized and Max got baptized soon after. They had that "new zeal" for sure! I was reg. pio. (the only one back then in that cong.) and Henni went with me in service a lot.
In Indonesia, during WWII, Henni and her two sisters had to go to a camp being half "Dutch." Their Indonesian mother didn't have to go but went to protect her daughters. Her mother made Henni and her sisters to look as ugly as possible for fear of any Japanese soldiers. Henni said her mother was always warning her to not look at the Japanese soldiers in the eye - as Henni, with a smile, was definitely not the type to be 'submissive.'
One day, while driving, Henni and I were talking about things of pagan origin, and I mentioned that even wedding rings were of pagan origin. Suddenly, Henni took off her wedding ring and threw it out the window. I was shocked and told her all JWs wear wedding rings. She wouldn't let me go back to try to find it. Fortunately, Max loved his wife immensely! Clearly, they were one of the most bonded couples I have ever known.
In '67, I moved to where the need was greater in northern CA. Soon after that the Venemas moved to Ecuador to serve there. In the early '70s , an American missionary girl from Ecuador came to Bethel for a brief while (in between assignments) and expressed that the Venemas were successful with the Ecuadoran people as they blended and helped many with the "truth." She said they were more successful than missionaries. Later, they had to moved back to CA as Henni got an amoeba, and very, very sick.
I lost track about them as the rest of family moved out of state. I expect they had heard we all left the org. My brother got word from some of his friends, who left JWdom also, that many were shocked that we (all 5 kids) left.
I want to say, Venemas were outstandingly loving and generous people, a whole hearted kind of people.
