Yes, it happened too much in and out of the KH. The elders expected everyone to report on each other. They targeted me a lot when I started to hang out the fringe sisters/brothers, but I never did, not after I went through my own inquisition with the elders.

Is Being A Snitch A Popular Activity In The Kingdub?
by Yizuman inhow often do dubs hear someone snitch about a wrong doing from a brother or sister?.
how often do you hear of a snitch going to the elders to stir up a lynch mentality against a brother or sister?.
is there some points being earned for all this or do they think jehovah will reward them for being a snitch?.

The economy here in the Reading, PA area hasn't been that great to begin with, but new home building has stopped, unemployment is nearing 10%, crime is slightly higher (bank robberies mostly), people are getting free pet food from the Humane Society so they won't get rid of their pets, I just got laid off from my job - a bank, last Friday. Overall, not great. At least my husband's job is secure - for now.

Life and death in the backyard
by Nathan Natas ini live inside the seattle city limits in an old residential neighborhood.. during the winter i put out "bird pudding" made from oatmeal, margarine, birdseed, peanuts, etc.
to help meet the nutritional needs of a family of crows that we share the neighborhood with.
the crows, in turn, share their puddin' with a few pigeons and a few local squirrels.

Seven years ago when I lived in Central Florida, I saw a large hawk swooped down and snag a small squirrel and took to flight with the squirrel going for the ride - his last one. For a second before, I thought it was my kitten, Sarah (today, she's one fat cat). It was both a startling and a fascinating experience to see nature in action.

Back when I was involved with JWs, I used to hang out with a JW girl during the assemblies, and when I decided to leave and move away, she was the only one who still didn't treat me like a disease. Over the years, I have kept in contact with her on and off. Mentioning drug dealing in the KHs, I remember her telling me about what was going on in her congregation when I inquired about people I knew, etc. She told me that her unbaptized nephew was being accused by the elders of pushing drugs. One particular elder, the one that ripped me apart in my JC in '85, was especially ruthless. Soon after his inquisition began, it was revealed that his youngest son was the one pushing the drugs and not my friend's nephew. In fact, his son was quite the professional drug dealer pushing all sorts of stuff to the point that most of the kids in that KH were a bunch of druggies. Needless to say, that particular elder had to step down due to the scandal (tee-hee). My friend felt vindicated, although her nephew left the religion soon after on his own (gee, I wonder why). A couple of years later, I read in the local newspaper that this elder's son held up a pharmacy, was arrested and is currently serving a five-year sentence. Even though he's paying for his crime, it's almost unfair; it's as if he is paying for the sins of his father. I remember his son as a toddler, and it saddens me to hear what happened to him and to others I had association with in another lifetime.

I used to live in Orlando. I know Winter Park very well. In 1988 I moved to Florida from NWI getting away from the JW religion (and other complicated reasons related). Post divorce in '92 I partied my butt off at the area clubs! I moved to Pennsylvania in 2005 due to my husband's job promotion. Hope you find friends very soon.

Is Copper theft on the rise in your area ??
by Casper init has become unreal in our small hick town.
people are ripping out water lines in new homes before they are even finished, contractors are losing their minds.... our house has a walk out basement, garage combo with two huge windows.
all our water lines are copper and visible thru the windows... we're afraid we'll come home one day and they'll all be gone.... air conditioners have become a prime target.

The city of Reading, PA has had problems with drug addicts, etc. stealing copper piping out of old, abandoned homes and buildings since Reading has had its share of blight due to the loss of manufacuturing jobs beginning in the 70s. I've heard it's also been happening in some of the city's nearby communities. The police are controlling the problem, though. I just hope it doesn't start in Wernersville.

Yes, I did, back in 1988. I grew up in NW Indiana, got involved with JWs when I was 13, and decided after several upleasant experiences with them, moved to Florida to get away from the hounding. It was scary moving to a new place where no one knew you, but it was the only way to clear the fog out of my head, take a step back and see what a bizarro situation it all was. I felt finally at peace to leave them behind and move on with my life, even though I still have the constant urge to live my life with "my bags packed." I live in PA now, which again, the need to be a stranger in another place still gives me comfort.

HELP - my boyfriend's ex called and wants them to reconcile....what to do?
by Juniper ini've been seeing an amazing man for a few months now.
i recently found out that before we met, my boyfriend had been thinking about getting back together with his ex-girlfriend.
(who is going through a divorce of her own right now) they have a two year old son together.. he says that if his child weren't involved, he wouldn't even consider going back to her.

Ugh.. been there, will never, ever, do it again. That man has no backbone. The ex: that skank's got some nerve! If he truly loved you, he would be with you and not contemplate on getting back with his ex - no exceptions. Most importantly, he wouldn't throw this in your face! What disrespect! I just don't understand why he feels he has to be with his ex in order to be a good father to his child. I would be utterly pissed! Oh, no, I'm getting flashbacks just thinking about it. I'd be steppin' in the opposite direction! A man with baggage is sometimes too much drama to bear.

Sorry, it's going to happen eventually. When I left, I came to terms that I will die, my personal "Armageddeon(sp?)" will come; there is no stopping it, so I learned to embrace my destruction, and started to live my life my way.

The blank, emotioness looks on their faces when I told them my father had died the night before. The blank, emotioness looks on their faces everytime I wanted to be an individual or questioned certain rules. The blank, emotionless look on my JW boyfriend face when I asked about going to his H.S. prom, and he curtly said, "No." (didn't even asked if I wanted to go or not).
Bigdreaux: I know what you mean, I shudder just thinking about that smell; my stomach twists, too.
