Just sex for me. I should have been gettin busy in my teenage years. Im kinda wet behind the ears with dating and stuff. Other than that I think I sacraficed more JW goals than anything else. Was thinking I shold have been a servant or something. Instead i spent my time making money. I guess its not so bad. Just got reinstated so i guess Ill try again to pursue some spiritual goals.

MICHIGAN PEOPLE!!!...Multi-millionaire witness Pat Patterson.....
by integ inanyone heard of this guy?.
he built up an insurance agency in michigan, and sold it for over 10 million dollars.. apparently, at his big office in novi, michigan, he only hires witnesses and they are all making big bucks.. i know an agent who was going to work for him in another state (they do business in 10 states i think), but declined to sign up when he found out the organization was owned and operated by witnesses.. he said: "that explains the ridiculously low commissions they pay their agents".
they sell alot of life insurance.. why would this witness owned agency push life insurance if the end is so near???.

I am not defending witnesses. But to ask why sell insurance if the end is near is ridiculous. There is no society recomended businesses.
This brother owns a insurance business for the same reason every other human being (including witnesses) does. TO MAKE MONEY

Why can't he let himself be happy?
by emilyblue ini'm in love with a man who is a witness.
i am a pretty inactive protestant, meaning my parents were only able to drag me to church twice a year on christmas eve and easter morning.
he told me early into our relationship that he wanted to marry me and spend the rest of his life with me, and that he has never felt the love for anyone else like he does for me.

OH MY GOD!!!
This story is my story to the smallest detail and it is sad. I was raised a JW and fell in love with a girl who was not. She was associated with witnesses but was not baptized. She is drop dead gorgeous, we can laugh for hours and never get tired of each other, we are into the same things. She is great, only thing she is not a witness. I put her and myself through hell. Trying to make her a witness, all the while sleeping with her. I was being a total hypocrite. Finally i had an emotional breakdown from being so torn and confessed, and got disfellowshipped. And lost the girl in the process. Now i am miserable, but trying to convince myself I did the right thing.
Emily, for your own sanity leave him alone and let him figure this one out by himself. He cant help you, and he cant love you until he can do those things for himself. And hes making you and himself miserable.
Hopefully he will come around. If not he may end up like me and lose the love of his life over religion

Do you believe you have a particular purpose in life?
by journey-on ini ask this because as a jw, you are programmed to think your only purpose is to preach the good news of the kingdom....period.
but more and more, i've noticed in my own life a strong pull toward something i won't elaborate on, but it has me thinking that maybe we really do each have a particular purpose and it's up to us to discover what it is.
i know i'm kind of new to the forum, but please let me know if any of you have experienced this same kind of unusually strong pull toward something you can't fully explain.

For me my purpose is to serve god, enjoy life, make money and be a father.
in that order

Is the Society more Orwellian than it used to be?
by under_believer ini was born in the 70's, grew up during the 80's, was a young adult during the 90's.
i was born into the witnesses and attended meetings that whole time.
i am still attending meetings, in fact, for my wife's sake.

I think theyve always stated that, but your eyes were wide shut. But what is interesting is that in the new "bible teach book" I will find the page. For the first time it was stated that our dedications are to Jehovah, and not to an organization, or to another human.
This is the first time I have ever heard a quote like this in society publication, and this is the latest publication they are pushing to start bible studies. I just wonder after going over that part, how the person conductiong the study will be able to explain things tat are purely organizational...i.e...no beards, no more that one earring in each ear for women, hair styles.

I dont believe this post. Im active enough to know that there was a talk about last week at the theocratic ministry school about how to help inactive ones, and speaking to inactive ones was suggested. They even went as far as to say that you should not be discouraging and say things like "where have you been".
Second point, if there was a new "rule" not to speak to inactive ones this would have come via letter to cong, or in a watchtower, but never at an assembly. This post is false.
