Yet all these cases the Watchtower society will simply try to explain away in a very sweeping statement by saying "Were not a perfect organisation". It seems they has adopted this word 'Imperfection' and uses it as a licence for behaving as it does.

To illustrate, do you think you could walk out onto the street with a baseball bat and the first person you see you whack him in the head with it and when the police turn up you simply say; "Well it's not my fault i'm imperfect!". No no way is that excusable!, so should we let this organisation get away with what it does?

so about a month ago, i finally "confessed" to my jw friend that my husband and i haven't been to a meeting since february.

we're in different halls, so she wasn't aware of our inactivity.

when i told her, i didn't explain any details about what lead us to stop going, other than the normal "we're confused- so much going on, new baby, etc" stuff.

Yes, just get on with your life and make some real friends. I had the same problem when i left, people who i thought were my long term buddies just dropped me like a hot potato when they knew i was on the way out of the org. Call that a loving organisation. What a load of sh*te.

Do you still love the Bible?

as a jw i was brought up to believe the bible was the word of god, didn't contradict itself and could answer all our questions.

i loved the bible and took the words of proverbs 2 literally, where it says if you call out for undestanding and search for it you will find the very knowledge of god.

i studied the bible as jw's recomend, but found that it left me with more questions than answers and this eventually led me out of the "truth," as i discovered many contradictions in both the hebrew and the greek scriptures and instances where the apostle paul even contradicts jesus words.. in the most important event of bible history, (the death of jesus) the gospel writers can't even agree on the sequence of events and who he appeared to first after his resurrection.

Well i have mixed feelings about the bible now i have left the JW org, like you i believed it was the undisputed word of God, perfect, infallable & unquestionable. Since i have left the org i have seen it in a different light, i have questioned it with my own reason and not that of the JW's and now have a much different opinion about it.

As to its truthfulness i think it would be naive to dismiss the entire book as myth because there are historical & archeological records that support many of the happenings that took place as described in the bible. Whether or not it is the word of God you simply cannot prove, but what you can admire about it are its gems of wisdom that it teaches. I particularly like the book of Ecclesiastes where solomon questions the goals, pursuits & eventuality of man and speaks of 'vanity and striving after wind'. I like some of Jesus teachings where he warns against being Judgemental & Self righteous which was beneficial & practical for living back in his day and modern living today.

On the other hand i have developed a negative opinion about the book of Revelation. This book speaks heavily in symbolic terms & descriptions from start to end, how can you possibly decipher any accurate truthful meanings out of it? How can you take 'Harmaggedon' literaly? How can you take the 144000 literaly?

Also the Old Testament, the Mosaic Law, this law seemed sometimes harsh, somtimes silly, sometimes barbaric in its administering judgements to the the people of Israel, and equating this with a loving, caring & just God often seems illogical.

I suppose, to gain a completely solid & thorough understanding of the Bible, you would have to study it for a long time (possibly a lifetime) with no external influence such as JW or other organised religious literature and make up your own mind.

these sex laws have bothered me for some time.

until coming here i was unaware of all the pedophilia problems in the org.

the interesting thing about these two bible laws are that if a girl was engaged, and screamed during rape, the rapist only is executed.

Imagine if someone raped your virgin daughter and as a consequence of law he was allowed to marry her instead of recieving a due & just punishment, if it was my daughter i'd feel like taking the law into my own hands. Jah is supposed to be a God of justice so where is the justice here?

Good point, everybody takes time in carefully selecting one that suits their taste but why chose the one you have chosen?

My ones a character called 'Spawny Get' out of the adult comic called 'Viz'. Why i chose him? I dunno he just looks dead funny so thats why i suppose.

in matt.7:1-5 jesus says "judge not" and that individuals will be judged according to what judgement they imposed .

he also advised to remove the "rafter" in your own eye before you go removing a splinter from someone else.. take a good look at what witnesses preach door to door: the moral condemnation of others, how to be happy, how to.

I'm not a big advocate of Jesus but these two statements of his completely make sense. Here he was teaching people not to be judgemental & self righteous, two traits that are very common among the JW's. Even though they're supposed to be pay heed to these teachings a lot of them do the complete opposite.

should prostitution be legalized?

think of all the unprotected prostitutes in the world.

if their profession were legalized, they might have access to retirement plans, medical insurance, regular health exams that would protect not only the girl but the client also.

courts and society have traditionally held the body as something sacred that should not be sold, but are people not selling their bodies when they make pornos or pose for pictures or make movies or any such things?

Prostitution; you get payed for having sex.

Porno; you get payed for having sex but its on TV.
