Anyway I just asked if I continue associating with them can I be disfellowshipped? The answer... NO!!
I bet in some congregations the answer would have been yes.
being the paranoid, inactive, with alot of family and "friends" still in the org.
i'm sure it's been discussed before but i don't recall reading on that topic here on jwd.
i know that fear prevented me from posting while i was exiting as an elder.

i know the society tells people not to listen to rock n roll cause its from teh satan, not to watch r rated movies because they're "worldly", etc.
but i was wondering if folks had any specific instances where one song, one show, one movie, or whatever was singled out as being particularly 'evil', and banned on an individual basis?
i was never a jw, but was in the worldwide church of god...the two are rather similar, i've seen many (and made quite a few myself) comparisons on the board; and i can remember as a child that every once in a while certain things would get brought up as being more evil and worldly than others.. examples of specific bans:.
one WT once made clear reference to Basic Instinct (without naming the title of the movie).
When I was a teen I remember seeing all sorts of lists of "banned" music circulated among the brothers. Not to talk about LP that played on reverse mode would contain satanic messages, like stairway to heaven of Led Zeppelin, Hotel California, and many more.
Nowdays, Harry Potter and Pokemon were specifically mentioned by the CO as not for JW's.
how did the kangaroo, the koala bear, and the platypus get from noah's ark to australia?
how did any animals get to australia for that matter?i know that this has been considered before but i just love asking jws this question.. nvr.
just asking what I consider pertinent questions deserving of a credible answer
after tens of thousands of young witness men in the prime of their lives have spent years in jails for refusing civilian service in 1996 the watchtower decided such a choice was not unchristian and a matter of choice.
watchtower 1996 may 1 p.20.
what, though, if the state requires a christian for a period of time to perform civilian service that is a part of national service under a civilian administration?
I was wondering if someone could find an article with the following wording:
“Feelings of Having Suffered Needlessly
In the past, some Witnesses have suffered for refusing to share in an activity that their conscience now might permit. For example, this might have been their choice years ago as to certain types of blood fractions or organ transplant. A brother might now feel that he could conscientiously accept them.
Was it unrighteous on Jehovah’s part to allow him to suffer (by maybe losing his child or one of his close relatives) for rejecting what he now might do without consequences? Most who have had that experience would not think so. Rather, they rejoice that they had the opportunity of demonstrating publicly (= die as martyrs) and clearly that they were determined to be firm on the issue of universal sovereignty.”
As some of you mentioned it what gets me mad is the lack of apology (and yet there are articles reminding us of the importance of saying "I am sorry" when we make a mistake....).
thats a big test.
can you think of the test that that would put on gods people?
its a big test, its a big test.
I have a copy of the talk on tape. like some of you I listened to it 10's of times. Great speaker indeed. about the content, it always depends from which side you look at it

what about an animal like the yak that is designed to leave at high altitude (if I am not mistaken he cannot survive below 3000meters)?
another question related to the flood. In the light of the great issues raised by Satan in Eden, Jehovah did not destroy the rebels allowing time to prove who was right. why then did he intervene by wiping out the whole humanity with the flood?
many of us who were once jehovah's witnesses had a measure of happiness in our lives.
for me, i had a hope in the future, i had answers as to why we are all here, i believed in a loving god who looked after me and cared about me, i had answers to all of lifes big questions.. when i found out the truth about the witnesses, i was lost in a great big world and now had no answers other than the fact that what i once believed was "the truth" in actuality wasn't the truth.i now had to start all over in my search for truth.
for me, it wasn't long before i found what i thought was the truth since i always believed in the bible.
If I learned nothing else from that hateful little sect, it is to NOT judge others.
How true. we can never understand a situation unless we have lived it. and even under same circumsances other people may act differently with their sound motivations. judging others is a sign of a small mind.
watch out for the questions from readers in the may 1st 2007 watchtower.
"when does the calling of christians to a heavenly hope cease?
" it's a good'un.. included are the statements:.
Nice to see you posting Ann.
It looks like everything that at one time was sure is now not so certain anymore... the revelation book already needs a new update
ray franz mentioned in crisis of conscience that in 1980 schroeder, klein, and suiter proposed changing the start of "this generation" from 1914 to 1957. as the "this generation" doctrine has since mysteriously morphed any date associated with it is moot.
however, as time marches on without the developments anticipated by the gb may they again pick a new year, this time for the invisible enthronement of christ, in an attempt to buy time and regain credibility?
what dates or historical events would be likely choices?
I would even think that the WT might quietly drop 607 BC while keeping 1914 without any other rationale. Just as it dropped the Great Pyramid and the former 606 BC figure which were its real calculation bases. And 1914 would just float on by being (1) the date of WWI and (2) "predicted 40 years in advance".
Isn't it wonderful, brothers and sisters, that in spite of the errors of his well-meaning servants, Jehovah led his organisation to such an amazing knowledge?
I'm not kidding. Should the WT do it tomorrow it would keep 99 % of its members. And the other 1 % it doesn't really care for.
that is my thought as well. once I wrote to a pro-JW site asking some questions about 607bce and their answer basically was that even if 607 should be wrong, the evidence (favourite JW word ) is that the time of the end started in 1914....
we on this forum were all more or less unhappy with the wts for one reason or other and inevitably we left that religion which we consider to be in fact a cult.
we can't understand or imagine how anyone could be happy living in that negative environment yet there seem to be quite a few dubs that are happy and content being jws.
apart from the obvious ones eg those that have some status which gives them a sense of importance why do others feel happy being there?
They are continually told that they are the happiest people on earth, and if you tell a group of people something often enough, then the odds are that eventually some of them will believe it.
true, but it is not the only thing. most JW I know are happy, friendly and cheerful people. It depends also on the congregations, I've seen some where everybody is happy and others where most are unhappy, I guess it has to do with the charisma of the leaders.
