do you think the GB are wondering why armargeddon dosn't come?
by highdose inare they deluded enough to think that it must happen soon?
or are they just stringing everyone along?.
personaly i think that russell had good intentions and probably belived what he wrote ( although dosn't make it right) but i don't belive that any other gb has really belived the trash that is supposed to be the jw religon.

I still maintain they are like the empereror's new clothes.
They are the ones that are supposed to have the answers but deep inside they realize that they don't hear God's voice. So many play a passive role and just agree with whoever asserts themselves the most.
They must wonder why it hasn't come yet, but they are still playing the game. Dressing up, complementing each other on the fine spiritual decisions, wondering each day if they will be found to be a fraud. The ones that are truly dangerous are the ones that assert their postion. I wonder if they just crave power or if they are deluded enough to believe themselves.

Shunning is so stupid
by AwSnap ini cannot seem to shake the visual image i have from about 5 days ago.
i went over to my mom's house, and apparently she didn't mention it to my younger sister (who lives in their downstairs apartment).
she and her baby were visiting with my mom, and when she saw me walking up the side walk, she grabbed her toddler up in her arms and i saw her hauling ass down the stairs....the toddler didn't understand why she was just snatched up and hauled away and started screaming.

My theory on shunning is that it's an easy sacrifice to make.
Every other aspect of being a witness requires action. You need to go in service, you need to go to meetings, you need to study, you need to prepare, you need to, you need to, you need to. The list is almost endless.
Shunning you don't need to. You can just avoid someone, that's no work at all. You can claim infinite heartache, get a ton of sympathy from the hall, but it requires you to do... nothing.
It's the best bang for the witness buck there is. So easy, do nothing and feel righteous. Since it's sacrificing your relationship with your family, Jehovah will definately overlook those 3-4 secret sins you are harboring. After all, you are giving up your FAMILY for him.

Is there any way around this? (Preaching when you don't believe)
by venusinfauxfurs ini figure i can do more to wake friends and family up on the inside than the outside and i didn't come to that decision without a great deal of pain.
i know it's not "the truth" but it isn't a bad life for me,and i still very much believe in god.
the witnesses aren't right but neither are the mormons, the catholics, etc and i have other family devoted to both those faiths.

While I was physically in, but mentally out, I would just make up numbers on my monthly report.
Avoid service altogether.

Is anyone else getting ready for Christmas?
by juni ini was in the mood today... got the tree cheap (came w/lights), decorations and ribbon for half price and made the bow myself to save money.
i was going to put it aside until after thanksgiving, but couldn't resist completing the project.
i just have to get some fiber fill for "snow" at the base.

We've started shopping for our anual ornament. We get a new one each year and decorate the tree in order of years we've been celebrating. Then we add on the generic ones. This will be our sixth family ornament.

by Knowsnothing insay you were god, and you happen to have fallen asleep for these past couple of thousand years.
you wake up to see all the turmoil and such happening in the world.. what would you do to make yourself known and to improve things in the world?.
i'll start it off.

Are you talking about waking up as the biblical god? Or just some random all powerful being?

What is the stupidest comment you ever heard at a meeting?
by 3rdgen ina very reliable friend told me this: the bro was commenting on what was "unacceptable" conduct in the bedroom between married persons.
needless to say, he had everyone's attention.
he went on to say "we must avoid perversions such as oral and annual sex.

I'm afraid the stupidest comment I recall was one of my own mentioning the early witnesses used to go around playing pornographic records.
In my defense, I was young and didn't know the word phonographic.

First I would find some nutcase and start to direct him. Let him know my kid is going to show up in a few years, but invisibly.
Even though they had all the wrong information, I'd still support him and just keep flashing him, (with light... perverts) until he gets it right. After a while I'd hope that they would form a committee that would speak for me so I could have a nap.
I'm a pretty proud God, so I would hope they could do all they could think of to cover up abuse, violence and deaths in my name. I don't want a lawsuit.
After a short time, I would destroy everyone on earth! A very short time. We're talking fractions of minutes here, but God-minutes, so you can figure out how long that is for you, lol.

How Will The WTS Society Look In The Year 2030? How Will They Explain Why The Generation Is Now 116 Years Old?
by AvocadoJake inimagine you are here in the year 2030 and nothing has happened?
how will field service be carried out?

In regards to teaching, each generation has been snared by the "very close to the end" carrot. They will continue to prune teachings that actually have a real world marker (1975, 1914 generation... etc.)
I think their numbers will start to be in decline more. For the longest time, when someone had doubts about the society, there was no body to talk to, no means of talking to anyone. Now with the internet and the apostate groups getting larger and more vocal, the information is right there.
As far as technology goes, I'd be surprised if the society doesn't capitalize on "podcast" style talks that will be played at local KH's. It would take the crunch off the elder shortage and make sure the message is uniform.
