Anything like a Chucky Cheese Pizza place out there? A place where they have kid-friendly food and games (bowling, arcades, balls pit)--anything like that. Heck--even a McD's with a giant playplace will suffice. Kids that age are easy to please, if you let them run around and burn off energy. ...I miss those days with my kids... ENJOY!!!

Today Is My Point of No Return - Or Is It?
by TheMan inalmost every night, i would get a phone call from my book study overseer, asking how i was, where i was.
whereas witnesses, when they experience hard times, stop going to meetings?
of course, my wife and i want to leave the witnesses, and i don't want to offend anyone in the process.

First: Congratulations on your expected baby!
Second: Welcome to the forum.
Third: Nothing 'wussy' about it at all.... (not wanting to deal with 'repercussions' for deciding to leave--shouldn't HAVE to deal with that...that's the insane thing about it all!)
I know you're concerned about hurt feelings and bad opinions about the gifts if/ when you leave, but consider this: That pales in comparison to the bad opinions they will have about your leaving, PERIOD. The gifts thing matters little beside the 'bad heart condition' that LEAVING the org. implies in their eyes.
There...doesn't that make the ungrateful-about-the-gifts impression seem a little minor, now? No one is going to sit back and say, Well...at least they waited a few months after the shower before leaving. Leaving any sooner would have just been bad manners.
They aren't going to have a charitable or balanced view of you/ your wife/ your decisions WHICHEVER way you go...so make the decision that works best for you and your wife.
A round of sincere thank you notes is all the attention to those gifts that is necessary. It's your young, growing family that deserves your full attention now. Good luck to you...and remember...you're TheMan! You can get through this. And we're here to support.

Joke of the day - Butch the Rooster
by PopeOfEruke injohn the farmer was in the fertilized egg business.
he had several hundred young layers (hens), called "pullets" and eight or ten roosters, whose job was to fertilize the eggs.
the farmer kept records and any rooster that didn't perform went into the soup pot and was replaced.

JW died on Discovery Health show last night
by M.J. indid anyone see the "trauma" show (about the e.r.
) on discovery health last night?
one of the stories featured was an elderly jw lady who had an accident and needed an emergency surgery.

To my knowledge, I believe storing one's own blood for later transfusion is verboten. If it's in a cell-saver, it's okay, but the moment it's not connected to your body, you are out of luck.
SirNose has it right. I checked into this for my own surgery.

Active JW's on this forum
by winnie inhaving read posts over the last few months, i have come to the conclusion that there must be alot of 'active' jw's who still regularly attend meetings/field service etc.. don't you feel that by posting your many and varied topics, usually complaining/disagreeing with the wbts, that you are being hypocritical?
when you post your information, obtained sometimes in an questionable manner, doesn't it make you question your own underhanded actions?.
you converse with many on this forum who are disfellowshipped/dissasociated, yet if you knew who these ones were, face to face, you would not give them the time of day!

winnie----first, Welcome.
Second-----I have wished I could BE so brave! If I could attending meetings--and esepecially (ugh!) being active still, it would help restore my connection to my family [kids] who believe lies about me based on their JW dad's manipulations. Plus I could help do what these others have said--act as the French Resistance did during Nazi times. My hat is off to these people. I couldn't do it...wish I could.
