Unreal experience
by Billzfan23 ini told a jw friend who is aware of my fade but is not supporting me in it that i was convinced that if the elders read a letter from the platform stating that everyone in the hall should commit a group suicide - most people would do it.
good: people are devout.
bad: people are brainwashed and totally under control of the org.. ugly: this person did not disagree with me.. .

Never asks me questions of her own...
by onlycurious inmy employee and i have a friendship outside of work, even though i am her boss and about 15 short years her senior.
okay, i'm kindof a mentor friend.. anyway, she is a jw doing 50hrs a month in service and is a 2nd generation jw.
if it wasn't for her mom i swear she would jump ship.. i talk very openly about my faith, church, youth group, people in need and how we handle that...etc.. she never asks me anything.

She NEVER asks me anything. She is always polite and listens for a while but never asks a thing. I am famous for asking her all kinds of questions and then I compare how our hall/churches do things.
I just find it to be interesting that she never even inquires or contributes.
She did manage to tell my other jw employee (2 years in the making) that she should bring her book of reasonings with her because I ask a lot of questions. lol

Belief Poll : Please Indulge Me
by Morocco injust sort of curious about this, i know it has probably been done a gazillion times but let me do it again.
1.do you believe in a personal god who takes interest in you as an individual?
2.do you believe that the bible was written by god?

Is Apostacy in all religions?

I have never heard the word 'apostate' used for anyone who has left my faith. Nor do we turn our backs on people when they decide to go to another church or start doing things that are contrary to scripture. I am sure there are a few odd churches out there that are very legalistic and do this sort of thing but as a whole, no. Never heard of it.

QUESTIONS FROM READERS----CHECK THIS OUT!
by Mary inseeing as i have the wt in front of me today, i thought you'd enjoy the questions from readers from the february 15, 2007 article on the evils and pagan origins on toasting or clinking of glasses.
the article specifically mentions how not everything today that was of pagan origin is necessarily bad, and sites "wedding rings" as being of pagan origin, but it's not viewed like that now.
then, incredibly, they go on and say that while toasting might not be considered a religious practice today, there's "good reason" for christians to avoid it------without giving any valid reason why other than: do as we say:.

Not talking about JW stuff has the opposite effect - regression phase
by truthseeker ini decided to take the advice of some of you here when i wrote about my situation.. i am married, but my wife is a die hard witness.
despite me showing her mountains of evidence and her actually accepting it, she is regressing back into jw think.. this has happened since i stopped mentioning anything anti-jw.. now she thinks that my problems with jw's were just a phase because i am not bringing up the issue anymore.. i really want to leave this religion, but i can't do that without losing her.. many here i know are trapped and some are still serving as elders.
i don't know how you do it, but i guess routine is routine.

I met a lady once who was a former jw. She told me a story about a jw woman who came into her home for a Bible Study. After a very short time, the ex-jw said, Wait a minute. Let me finish this for you. I will ask you this question, and you will answer the question by stating this answer. Then I will ask you this question and you will respond to me by stating this.
The woman just stared at her in utter amazement. The lights went on for her and she then realized she had been brainwashed and douped.
True story.

The 613 Laws of JW's
by avidbiblereader inthe witnesses always say they are free in christ, i beg to differ, i don't know how many stupid unscriptural laws they have but lets start a thread on how many dumb witness laws you know and have heard of that make no sense or completely unbelievable, it is like they have a second talmud.
cant have walt disney movies or stuffed animals as this is magical.
cant have beards.

Uhhh....are you serious? No oral sex?
Where the heck did that law come from? Last church meeting I went to (youth convention for adult leaders) the guy said that EVERTHING is okay. Yep...that too!
How many Christians blushed during that message?

Alias change:unhappy to free2think......................

Free2think is very fitting.....
Told my friend about you today and he said our mutual jw friend is in the same boat. I think as we get older it is a little easier to not let our parents influence be so strong. This is deeply rooted though. I'm not making light of it.
You are amongst friends....hang in there.
