Hey, I went to a church like this once in Southern Cal. It was called Set Free Ministries and was made up of bikers and ex-gang members. It was soooo awesomely different than any church service I had been to. This was about 15 yrs ago. The streets were lined with bikes almost as far as the eye could see. The men in leather flagged the traffic. I showed up in my 'Sunday best' back in those days and was a bit surprised by what I saw. Guess what....they didn't treat me any differently even though I looked like a traditional church goin' "gotta put on my Sunday best" kinda gal.
I wear jeans on Sunday.....my kinda thing now.

by Gadget ini've been posting on here for four years now, and so much has changed in my life.
everything seemed to be going wrong then, but time has done wonders and things are real good now.
lots of people on the board helped and supported me through that, as well as new non-witness friends that i made.

If Creationism is true explain races.
by DeViL DriVeR 76 inso the bible speaks of how multiple languages came to be in babylon with the tower of babel, you all know the story.
ok so thats the bibles view on languages but what about races?
how are some people light skin others dark?

I just had dinner with my Uncle this evening. It's really tough to even figure out WHAT race he is. If you didn't see the rest of the family, you might be lead to believe he is 1/2 African American. My mom has olive skin, too. Yet, the other brother is fair with blue eyes. Funny thing, we are all in the same family. But, there's been a lot going on in the gene pool between the great beginning and now.
So, perhaps we have evolved in some way, shape or form. Not from apes.... Survival of the fittest is a bonified fact. It seems those with darker skin are typically closer to the equator. Wait, I just thought about Alaska. That doesn't fit. Not to be a smarty pants

Creationism hiding in plain sight
by FireNBandits ina friend pointed out to me that "theistic evolution" is, in essence, no different than intelligent design.
both postulate a creator that is behind creation.
both use the words "creation" and "creator.

I was just in a classroom setting at the National Youth Worker's Convention in Anaheim, CA. The gentleman teaching stated that Christianity can not be supported using scientific reasoning.
Something I had never heard before. Most of the church would probably get upset and call the man a heretic, but what he had to say made complete sense. It truly is a matter of faith, not scientific facts.

"But he wasn't a REAL Christian!"
by FireNBandits injimmy swaggert (a "swaggert" is a swaggering braggart btw), jim and tammy fakker, or any well-known christian that "blows it" big-time in a public way is sure to elicit that response from the fundagelicals around you.
"but he wasn't a real christian!
" what a convenient psychological device to keep ones fantasy image of ones religion intact!

Is it really safe to state this as a blanketing statement? I certainly don't refer to people as "real' Christians. Either they are believers or they aren't. We ALL make mistakes. I'd be the first to admit I'm not perfect. Geez, have you read some of my posts? I have loads of things I struggle with. Oh, and I'm a 'real' Christian....
While there are those out there who would like to make us think they are perfect little Christians and are able to determine who is and who isn't a 'real' Christian, please be more careful to not heap all of us in one of your piles.

Make up: Love it or loathe it?
by Crumpet ini have just gotten around to taking off last nights trowelling and what a relief that is!
i rarely wear make up - maybe once a month, so i probably go over board.
i feel like my skin just suffocated for 24 hrs.. what do you love or loathe about make up?
-

I love makeup but wear it naturally. I don't like to look like a completely different person without makeup on.
Arbonne has a great product and is great for the skin. I don't sell it or anything, but get the discount. You ladies should check it out if you have sensitive skin and are looking for a product that doesn't do animal testing and contains very few parabens.

How the Religious View Homosexuality
by serotonin_wraith infor people who are still religious, what are your views on gays?.
for me (an atheist) it goes against my own morality to think of them as sinners or somehow doing wrong, and yet in the bible it teaches that it is wrong.
it's one of the main reasons i could never go along with the jws.. i'm curious how religious people address this issue.

Perhaps it's wise to compare apples with apples. I don't believe I'm an animal nor do I believe we came from animals. In my estimation, you're comparing apples with oranges.
If you read any of my writings in the beginning, you would see that while I disagree with the act of homosexuality in and of itself, I certainly don't go out of my way to picket, protest or get in anyone's face about the issue either. Others on this site are free to express their opinions, convictions, beliefs....etc.
I believe your original question was to inquire as to what the 'religious view' is of homosexuality.
I've stated my point and while much of what is being stated on this board may be interesting on both sides, I don't know that any of us are going to have a miraculous change of mind from reading these posts.

"if sin isn't an issue for animals, then animals being gay is not sinning, which means that God made them to be gay and didn't have a problem with it."
Now, that's deep. I don't know if I can argue with this one. Wow...I think I'll completely abandon all my Bible based principles and rejoice in the fact that a FEW animals get confused and embrace homosexuality. lol
