Why does being right = being arrogant?
by AlmostAtheist inwhat is it about a person's believing they are "right" that leads them to being arrogant?
you've surely noticed that the more sure a person is that he's right, the more likely he is to treat those that disagree with him with disrespect.
it's hard to see how a person can disagree with something that you know is right.

AA, this is something i have being thinking about recently and I have partly concluded that arrogance may actually be a reflection of insecurity. We recognise insecurities more easily in people when the person shows a weakeness, they may drink too much to cover up for their insecurities or be jealous because they are not happy within themselves etc. The difference with arrogance is that we can be very offended when someone comes over that way, but could it not be that being arrogant=being defensive. I have to be right and by being arrogant towards others I can maintain my position. It is almost like they are scared of being wrong (their insecurity) and delight in the error of others or are dismissive of others opinions, because they are scared of having to change.
I know that all sounds a bit rambly but I hope you understand what I am trying to say................maybe we should actually feel sorry for the arrogant, who knows.

Crumpet - Firstly in a purely platonic way, may I say you are a very gorgeous bird who should have gazillions of fella's falling over themselves, and I think you should stop moping about over said ex who basically hasnt got the balls to get it right with you and fight for you. I dont want that to sound hurtful and so to clarify what I mean, when you left he should have fought to get you back because there are plenty of blokes who wouldnt have let you go in the first place!
Secondly, take out of this previous relationships all the positives, and by this I mean you should now have a clearer understanding of what you want from a relationship and your man. This wasnt a failure it was a learning experience.
Thirdly, I cant agree enough with the other posters, that you have to cut the tie. Maybe you can be friends a few years down the line, but now is not a good time for that. You both need space to be able to heal and move on. And you have to look forward and set yourselves some goals for the future, taking small steps toward them.
If your really struggling. why not get some counselling and dont forget if you start acting like you've moved on your mind will play catch up pretty quickly.
Your gorgeous girl and someone great is going to be lucky enough to love you and be loved back by you.
Hugs.

Who and what would you have been if not for the JWs..............
by fifi40 inabandoned got me thinking about this is an earlier post, when he said along the lines of 'he wished he had never had thw whole jw experience'.
i also remember reading recently on another thread how one poster said their creative talents were stifled.. so now i am pondering what life woulda/coulda been like...............had i not had jw parents................in my own case i was very bright at school and excelled in maths and english subjects, but i remember zero encouragement from my parents for all that i was acheiving, or to pursue any type of career.............so maybe i was destined to be a journalist, an accountant (or maybe not)........i always liked the thought of acting, but guess that is most kids dream and i was also drawn to my fathers vocation, that of training racehorses but being the fourth child and having three older brothers my dad didnt take this very seriously.
i also love doing old houses up and interior design, which whilst i have done for my own personal use never considered as a career...................and then there is the latent writer in me just bursting with a bestseller.. oh my!!

JESUS REFUTES THE WATCHTOWER'S BLOOD POLICY
by Terry inthe watchtower bible and tract society represents itself as christian.. it represents its theology and policies as direct from jehovah god through his son, jesus christ.
further, the governing body of this corporation interposes itself between the mediator, jesus, and the rest of jehovah's (christian) witnesses for the purpose of "feeding them (spiritual) food at the proper time.. the official word of jesus christ is represented in the watchtower's policy on blood transfusions.. in 1998 this statement was made:.
jehovah's witnesses do not accept whole blood, or major components of blood, namely, red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and plasma.
