  I found an old friend who is an Ex-JW!

  my mom is disfellowshipped ... she works as a bank teller.

  one of my old friends from high school who went to my congregation went by my mom's window and they talked for a while.

  somehow she had her mom call my mom and they even offered to let mom and me visit their vacation home.

  I met a man through work about 7 years ago, who was also a d/fed JW. We bacame firm friends and have to this day. Our common upbringing gave us a bond which cemented our friendship. He is brilliant and he is good friends with my now husband. Yesterday i was really touched.....I had met him at the pub for lunch and he introduced me to someone else he knew in the pub as one of his best friends .

  Also recently I read something another poster had written on this board and identified with the story she had spoke of.......although her location did not fit.....so I pm'ed her and asked about it.......and sure enough she knew me and we grew up in the same congregation......although she keeps her identity concealed for lots of reasons we have chatted about lots of stuff to do with our old congregation.......it is sometimes strange as to how small the world really is.

  would not comply with the plastic system.... would not tap dance and so they dissed him.. go his own way to be the "artist"... sometimes its dumb to be the smartest.. tear out the sound inside the trumpet... is it profound?

  like it or lump it.. this bitch's brew: the number one seller... high or stone sober he's god's lonely fella.. is "understand" the right word or illusion... for jazz?

  Stolen.

  Stolen childhood replaced with deception, false teaching and fear.

  Stolen birthdays, christmases and other celebrated times of year;

  Stolen fun.

  Stolen education and encouragement for talented young minds.

  Stolen careers that could, and should have been.

  Stolen dream.

  Stolen family who can no longer call they say

  Stolen friends who turn and look the other way.

  Stolen loyalty.

  Stolen hours of precious time and thought.

  Stolen money on books and magazines bought.

  Stolen resources.

  A stolen life

  Until you stop

  And start to glue the fragile pieces of what remains

  Into some sort of alien existence

  That

  In time becomes a far better place than you have ever been

  Which is easy, when stealing is all you have ever seen.

  yesterday my friends 14 year old son died after a lenghty stay in hospital.

  he had cystic fibrosis and in september caught an infection resulting in him spending pretty much the rest of his time in ic during which he suffered 2 heart attacks and was on life support and for the final few weeks has not been conscious due to medication.

  sadly he lost his battle yesterday.. he was a little chap who i knew and was friends with my son from first day at primary school.

  Thanks all for your comments, kindness and concern..........my ex acknowledged today that perhaps he shouldnt have said that sort of thing in front of me.......but he felt it was ok to because I have been a witness.......at the end of the day the only thing that matters right now is supporting those that are suffering.........without prejudice or personal opinion.

  Thanks again for the thoughts you have for my friend and her family.

  He was a little chap who I knew and was friends with my son from first day at primary school. I was good friends with his mum and occasion helped out with his daily physio. So I am very sad for them all.

  Last night I had to break the news to my own 14 year old after he returned from the meeting which he had been to with his dad. His dad was there when I told him.

  Dad's reaction initially was how sad and then............'its the best thing that could have happened to him......now he has the hope of the resurrection'.

  I said I dont think his parents would agree with you and I'd rather you didnt say things like that in front of me.

  Do you not find it incredible that they have such lack of tact or empathy.........I know they 'think' they are right.............but come on are comments like that not just despicable.

  His mum has given her all to him through her 14 years and his travelled the world quite extensively for someone of 14, so the short life he had was good and happy.........sometimes I am amazed at the 'false band aid' of the resurrection hope and how people can use it within minutes of learning of someone's personal tragedy........I hope I was never like that and I hope I can offer some sort of support and help to her over the coming months and celebrate the life he had.
