mine is garmisch germany....spotless and dog friendly, in the heart of the alps, just on the border of austria, driving distance to anywhere in italy....an absolute dream.
the town is small, (near where sound of music was filmed) beautiful shops including, chocolate, designer fashions, local specialties and the best food you have ever tasted from every part of the world.. it is a professional skier's destination, and at the same time, cows are driven through in the morning and evening with most traffic coming to a halt to allow the same.. driving in form munich, about an hour, you climb mountains and then suddenly come into beautiful fields with the mountains rising above you.
absolutely breathtaking.
Venice is breathtakingly beautiful.....
Port Douglas in Oz was great and totally laid back.....
But my favourite would be Dubai where I have been very fortunate to stay in a very posh hotel (twice) and was thoroughly spoilt....I loved it....but it was pure relaxation and pamper
we have such an interesting group of people from around the world on this board.
it might be interesting to have a thread where you discuss a hobby, something interesting that happened in the past, somewhere you've been, etc.. not deep, dark confessions - just interesting stuff.. .

I have travelled to lots of places in Europe and also have been to Oz (my mum lived there for 10 years. USA and Barbados and I speak some Polish.......due to the fact that my company employs quite a few Polish peeps.
My dad rode in the Grand National 5 times and I think was probably the only JW who trained racehorses for a huge part of his life.......he got away with it because he didnt gamble.......but he also never received any privledges.....hey ho horse racing was sooooo much more fun!

on a recent discussion on topix, a person there was making some claims and some lies and then laughing and joking about how all apostates are so gullible and it is so easy to make up stories and mislead.
their point was about the bible and our 'experiences'.
since that is so fresh in my mind, i think that one thing this 'eagleeye' poster stated that you might want to be aware of was that soon very soon they plan on pulling a big one over on apostates and then writing some tell all book about how stupid(we) all are(he used the word "hoax" more than once, if i recall).

It wasnt meant for you......it was intended for evil force who posted on this thread as KH Hater (or something like) and has subsequently had his post removed because of what he said........the comment was idrected at him and him only........it is either Trevor messing around or some other sad person. Sorry if it offended you but there are a lot of kind people on this site Purps being one of them who have had that kindness abused recently and I for one get pissed off with it.

Hate is not really in my emotional dictionary........so I would be hard pushed to answer truthfully........I certainly dont hate your common or ordinary JW.
If someone was persistant in coming onto my property when they had expressly been asked not to do so I would speak to the police about a restraining order probably.
If someone acted in a violent way toward me on my property, I would defend myself but it would not appear that these 2 old men were acting violently........abuse to the ears possibly.
When faced with this you have a choice
Ignore them and they go away.
Answer the door and tell them to F off, buggar off, or not call depending on how strongly you feel about it.
Assaulting them does not seem to appropriate behaviour in my book.

That said ......... thoughts of JWs do not consume my every waking moment........and I have learnt that I am responsible for me and all that occurs in my life now........so I dont let loose if one of them calls at my door........

I have not seen the video and know very little about Danny.
I am d/fed and as such ordinary JWs preaching in my area should know not to call at my door; but on occassion they still do and I just politely tell them that they should not be calling at my door. I know that it is recommended that elders call on d/fed people once a year in their area and in 7 years I have had one such visit.
Would I wish for people I know who are still involved in the JW org to be victims of violence.............NO...........most of us have been there and should, with all that we have since learnt, understand the blind brainwashing that is the reason why JWs bang away on doors with little success.
The acts of violence committed by terrorist groups does not make ANY of us wish to swear our allegiance to such groups........and this was an act of violence which should only be condemned.
It serves no purpose........it will not cause current JWs to think or examine their belief system, it will not cause them to question things they have been taught, it will not lead one member of this organisation to break away.......in fact it may well have the opposite effect.
Many have suffered abuse, in different ways, because of this religion..........but those who have the intelligence to leave, have questioned those teachings and found them to be wanting, should understand the path that is necessary for freedom from mind control.........random acts of violence are not the way.
For all those that feel passionately about the wrongs of the Jehovah's Witnesses, you should be using your brains and knowledge in a productive manner to fight your cause and you should be clear about what is and is not acceptable.
The only thing that Danny's actions have achieved is to cause talking points on boards such as this.......and possibly a criminal record for himself.
i have a situation with my step-daughter and i'm not sure how to handle it.
my husband and i faded away over 10 years ago.
we've never raised the issue with my husband's children.
I have two step daughters who stay with us 2/3 nights a week. I was not the cause of their parents failed relationship but met there dad 3 years after he split from their mum. Sometimes they forget to say thank you for things I do for them........often there dad will remind them........I dont take offense. In 5 years of our being together I have felt the need to say something strongly about their behaviour to them about 4 times, one of which involved my eldest step daughter and my own son who were being mean to the younger step daughter.
In the main if I have a problem I will talk to my husband first about it.
My own son was being a little rude with his step mum (they are witnesses) and my ex told me about it. So I had a word with him about it and told him that Sharon does a lot for him and I expect him to treat her with respect, as this is how he has been raised.........now he is just rude to me.
IMHO, step kids have a hard time. They have to accept people into their lives who they never asked for and who demand of their parents time, love and energy.
If you have had little to do with her during her growing years it is going to be hard for her to accept you as step mum........I think it is harsh to call her rude and hateful........she is 17, going through the great change of being a child and becoming an adult and her head is probably full of nonsense.
If you can find it within yourself to let go of your attachment to needing gratitude from her personally, and just focus on the fact that no matter what you encourage her dad to be a good parent to her it may well serve your marriage and possibly a future relationship with her better.
