I could reply by saying..............Is it my turn to answer the questions now?............but I recognise that this mildly, sarcastic banter needs to end...............so i wont!!!

Flipper
I dont believe HS actually made any comment on your personal reputation or the qualities observed in you by others as far a supporting others go.......................but what he did say is true (bear in mind he did use the word 'some' on the various descriptions given) of discussion boards. I doubt very much he is jealous of your reputation as you describe him. Whilst I am sure you are a great moral support to many; discussions boards are made up of people of all types of varying personality traits and I think if you took HS comment rather less personally you would see it for the purpose it was intended.........if in doubt refer back to his earlier post where he used the word 'sympathised' in relation to Cognacs feelings.
The problems begin when we start taking the words of complete strangers personally and let them effect our own sense of worth.
Sometimes we learn lessons the hard way.
Peace Out

I don't really like my sister...
by cognac inshe has the capability of being nice but i never feel like its very warm.
i've tried to reach out to her before but i just have nothing in common with her.
i don't even feel comfortable around her.. because of her personality, the idea of just being in her presence stresses me out.

Are we DESTROYING society through a false sense of SELF-ESTEEM
by Terry ini think political correctness started the trend of dumbing down.
lowering the bar.
warping the standards.. in every society there are citizens with varying abilities and disabilities.. the natural sorting process is achievement, self-sustaining ability and productivity.. winners vs slackers.

Oh dear Fadeout
No that is not what Terry is saying.................he is saying that we live in a world where winners and losers are treated equally............in fact winning is discouraged so that the losers dont feel bad................political correctness or developing a false sense of self esteem being the root of this...........the result being that we are destroying society.
My argument as in the case of the superbowl illustration is in line with your own comment, and the opposite of Terry's prompt to us to imagine a scenario, in that society does actually promote and encourage winners, sports stars being on way of illustrating this.
Also I am not sure of the situation in USA but here we do have government funded facilties for teaching children with special needs which are seperate from regular schools and does not incur the cost of private schooling for the parents.

Ok Fadeout............I get your point, crabs and all............
Here is my problem with Terence the crab's thread.....
In his intial post he discusses the requirement for teachers to have in their classes kids who require profound amounts of time and attention, thus failing the kids with more ability.
Firstly my question is this...............is this because of political correctness or societies desire to build a false sense of self esteem in the academically impaired child?
He then goes on in a further post to discuss how one of his own children who has a form of autism attended a school for kids with special learning problems.
What I cant understand is the apparent contradiction in Terry's own words that we live in a society that insists on placing special need kids in 'regular' school and yet that very same society recognises and provides a special learning problem school for Terry's own son.
He uses and example of the Super Bowl and asks us to IMAGINE a scenario that doesnt happen.............it is not factual of society.......we dont see what he asks us to imagine, in fact we see the opposite..............and yet it is a defense to his topic.
I recognise and understand what Terry is saying about Political Correctness..............how we are advised to avoid saying it how it is sometimes in case we cause offense..............and I agree with his sentiment whole heartedly..............but I dont agree that this is done out of a desire to build others self esteem (falsely)...............I see it as a concept to avoid hurting other people.
