this doesnt seem quite right to me.
by wonderingkid inmy grandmother and grandfather are both jehovah's witnesses.. i dont understand much about their religion just that they dont celebrate holidays such as christmas.. well today i went over to their house for a visit since they live 2 hours away and my cousins were there too.. we were all in the kitchen eating cookies and my brother said that we baked cookies but ours were for santa clause.
well then my grandma said that she doesnt celebrate christmas and she doesnt believe in santa.
so i say "well i do" and she says "well that means youre naiive and decieved".

It is all a part of the training, trained on what and how to say it. Sad but believable. It all stems from we are better than everyone else and it is our perrogative to look down our noses at you. Keep your head high but not so high so as to become like them with the arrogance. Paul said in Romans "not to think too much of ourselves but so as to a sound mind" Interesting, if we think too much of ourselves, could it be that we are not sound in mind?????

Raising kids in JW religion and the fall out in later years - Suggestions?
by juni inraised 4 kids in jw religion.
none are baptized and all are now adults.
they all have their own issues to this day from the crap that they were raised in.. anyone else share this similar history?

I am sorry and I was wrong and please forgive me!
I raised one daughter and she has had to go through therapy and struggles to this day with all the crap. I was honest and said I wished I never raised you a witness, I told her I was sorry, I did what I thought was right at the time and how wrong I was. I have asked her for my forgiveness as I am truly sorry that my descision had such a negative impact on her life.

A lot!!! I have done my share of sleeping at conventions with the elbow in the side, same ol same ol. You would know which scripture was coming before they ever said it. My last convention, my ex asked me sarcastically in front of a whole group of people "what did you learn at the convention this year"? I said not to go Philadelphia and sit in 100 degree heat outside, and if you do, you are going to sleep.
Needless to say, she didn't find it funny.

by truthseeker inover the years, the society has included half a page in their annual guidelines when planning for and attending the district convention.. in particular, they have been very insistent that only hotels on the recommended lodging list be used.. .
the language in this month's km is even more insistent than last years.. .

I like it how the Bible says it when HUGE issues were brought before the apostles, just a couple of things but not wanting to burden the brothers, now that is christianity, simplistic and freedom on none salvation or life threatening issues.
