I think that the absence of any study article on the remnant is very suspicious. As far as I know there has been nothing on the 144,000 for almost 1/2 year. What gives. With all this emphasis on the annointed lately you would think the society would clarify whether the 144,000 are literal or symbolic. If you look at Russells writings you will see that he was not sure if the 144,00 was a literal number or not. Now this dude is in heaven directing the work(he got his mug shot in the May 1st QFR !) So you might expect the society to act as ghost writer for Russell and to say in a weasely worded way that Russell now says the 144,000 are symbolic. Oh come on GB I've given you the outline now go for it!

The great crowd always thought that the generation applied to them because the generation doctrine was one of salvation whereby the survivors (Great crowd) would pass into the new system (paradise on earth). Now it seems this great crowd is somewhat orphaned. It also seems like the WTS is undoing everything the megaegomaniac Rutherford taught. This should be a wake up call to any JWs out there YOUR LEADERS ARE FULL OF CACK!

just wondering if anybody else has caught wind of this, or if has been written in the new witness only wt.

WT Finances shaky?
by Uncertain inwith the dollar devaluing, the real estate market in the usa tanking and the biggest growth in jws coming from the lower income areas, i'll bet they are in financial hurt.
bigger hurt than the protestants down the street, or the bottomless coffers of the roman catholics.. as the r and f ages, they realize that they must take any measures they can to provide for their "golden years" and are probably reducing donations.
and as the children leave the fold, they will be less likely to support mom and dad giving their estate to the fds.

In fact 1989, the date of the Watchtower's "20th Century" prediction, was itself a year that was hinted at strongly in earlier Watchtower literature. In a 1988 Awake! article titled "The Last Days - What's Next?" under the heading "How Long Can A Generation Last?" the Society seemed to suggest that the 1914 generation would end in 1989 - the very next year. After reminding Jehovah's Witnesses that 1914 began the "last generation," the Watchtower announced that Hebrews counted seventy-five years as one generation.7 The society left the readers to do their own math (note: 1914 + 75 = 1989). Rather than bringing "the end," however, 1989 brought with it another extension stretching the culmination to the end of the century.
