Is There Other Sites Many Members Are Bailing To? M.I.A JWN People, where did they go?
by ÁrbolesdeArabia insince i joined the forum i noticed more than a few people have not been posting, what is going on?
i received a couple of emails from other groups asking me to join their new forms with a promised technology, i wondered how they got my email address and thought it be strange.. .
people during the first year of a great change might post daily to any support chat or message board they feel is going to aid them.

who pissed you off, Mr. Grumpy?
You don't have to contribute to the end of the world, it's going to happen one of these days whether you help or not. Black holes, asteroids, huge earthquakes that shake the world, north Korea, it's all out there and the planet will take it in the nuts one day.

What do you believe about the bible?
by bethelyellowdollarbag ini'm interested in how we all view the bible?.
let me start by offering three different options:.
a.. a book that at best may have cultural or historical interest but that is it.. b.. a divinely inspired guide that i consult to make important life choices.

it's a record of early religious beliefs, and it documents how people lived then. To think it should direct your life now is insane.

The only way you get and keep civil liberties is by being a "jerk." Blacks would not have made much headway toward civil liberties if they tried to be nice and accomodating to the bigotry of their neighbors. LGBT folks would not have made much progress in civil liberties if they didn't speak up at every opportunity. The way you keep your liberties is by standing up and demanding them.
Anti-smoking laws are a poor example. Second-hand smoke is damaging and harmful. Demanding your right to not be exposed to it is important. A better example might have been those laws which establish a sabbath, for instance, making non-believers have to abide by the rules of believers. Of course, I think a lot of those no-business-on-Sunday laws have been shot down already.
I, a rabid atheist, am perfectly happy for you to believe what you want to believe. But just as you think proselytizing is your right and duty, I feel a strong duty to stand up to attempts by the religious to control my life.
As for the billboard, well, it's kind of pointless. It would be better to have a billboard with some FACT about evolution.

My general policy in election years is to vote for third-party candidates as much as possible.

RC Church - Originated when ? Spiritually Strong Ones please.
by *lost* inbeen doing a bit of research trying to tie in together a few different strands.. not too sure what happened to christianity and how organised religion took hold again after the apostles died off.. i know jerusalem was sacked 70 ce.
but lots to fill in from that point onwards to bring us to where we are today.. if a few peeps could help to condense and simplify the info down into a few bite size pieces it would give us a starting point to begin to re-educate ourselves to the truth.
and fill in the blanks.

Well, I think people who commented about your title weren't being rude. Your little hissy fit in your last post is more rude than the gentle way others pointed out that the term "spiritual" implies something negative about people who don't necessarily agree with you. And, anyway, spiritual or not, anyone could have a better knowledge of religious history than you seem to have.
By the way, some funny posts here! And thanks for the recommendation of Lost Christianities. I'm going to go look that up.

Clawing out of poverty via (E)ducation, not education
by MTSman inokay, so i've been what i believe is called a, "lurker", on this site for about four years.
i honestly don't remember how i stumbled on to it, but i totally get everyone here.
i'm a, "born in", pinoneered for like six-teen years, servered where the need is great several times, and even went to the, as the name alludes to, mts before it became a watered down theocratic ministry school.

Poor thing, she is at rest now. She had the more progressive, more disabling form of MS. I have a friend with MS who has the other kind, called relapse-remit, and I can see over the years that she is slowly declining, but with meds it is not so bad, although the outcome will be the same, I suppose. AF had a much more severe form and apparently has been in a coma for a while. I remember reading a few years ago she could only communicate by blinking her eyes. Terrible!
