It was a relief when I finally realized there isn't any god, that holy writings and gods are all reflections of the men who made them up, it made me feel lighter and free.

Just report it to the police -- it is stealing, after all -- and let things go from there. No need to report her to the congregation, or anything like that. Report it, see what the police find out, sue her for your money.

I notice she hasn't posted for about a month. She was struggling quite a bit and feeling depressed. Has anyone heard from her or have contact info so you can check on her?

Fading fast children are starting to ask questions, need help.
by Crazyguy inok i have been fading fast, missed a lot of meetings over the past couple of months and the kids think its mostly do to my being busy with work.
this morning was probably the first sunday that i was home and could go but did not.
so my 8 year old asked me if i was going and why when i said no.

I agree with being truthful with your kids, but limiting the amount of information you give them. You can start with simple things like you work all the time and you need some time at home. Then, maybe, independent bible study. Then later, you can say you don't know if you believe in it any more. But always assuring the kids nothing is wrong, and you love them and their mom.

no doubt you gave me an accurate description of what to expect.

There is definitely a high amount of self-discipline within the areas of the meeting, although there is little bladder control.
Had to laugh at this. It's a way of keeping yourself from screaming. When the boredom and stress become almost unbearable you go to the bathroom or take a walk outside around the building, then go back in and try to stay in your seat for the rest of the meeting. You'll notice the young attendants -- always male -- frequently go outside to "check the parking lot."

How can I stop hating the JW religion?
by marriedtoajw inhaving this spiritual division between my wife and i over the years has been very draining in many ways.
so much so that i find myself more and more hating everything having to do with the wtbts especially when i just see watchtower literature.
i've kind of always felt that way but it's getting worst.

I hope you can find a way to see a counselor -- does your job offer such a thing? I found talking to a psychologist enormously helpful because it allowed me to look at the whole mess from an outsider's perspective. He taught me a lot about communication skills, and reframed my view of my family and the wtbts. I'm still benefiting from his counsel 30 years later.

Ain't nobody's business but your own, but I have to say I think it's a poor idea. However, nowadays there is an abundance of information available about JW doctrines -- and about how those doctrines change over time -- to help in your search. I think that the religion is basically a cult, and so the exact doctrine doesn't really matter. Cults are more about control than dogma.

Scary Stuff
by Farkel intoday's high school students in the usa:.
less than 1/2 of them cannot identify the century when our civil war happened.. one in four thought columbus discovered america sometime after 1750.. one in three cannot name one right enumerated in the bill of rights.. three out of four cannot name the first us president.. two out of three do not know the length of term of a member of the house of representatives.. half cannot find britain on a map.. one out of four cannot find america on a map.. when my oldest daughter, who is now a physician was in 9th grade in this once-great state of california, i asked her about the three branches of our federal government.
she was clueless and told me she would take civics in her junior year in high school.

I believe there is a general dumbing-down of education. I used to own a business and was always amazed, when interviewing applicants for jobs, at how ignorant they were. They couldn't spell or do basic arithmetic, and they were high school graduates.
I remember talking about JFK once with a friend. Her highschool kid said, "who was he? Oh, yeah, he was a president or something."

it's veracity, not voracity, unless you're talking about being hungry for education

I do think that if I were in the situation and the elders sat in a car outside waiting to catch me as I left, I would call the police and report suspicious activity.
