I have been asked to submit work for next year's open studio exhibit
by nugget inmy husband showed some of my work to artists exhibiting in this years open studio event and i have been asked to submit work for next year.
as soon as the children go back to school i will be busy with the isograph pens.
as a witness i gave up my art studies and my dream of fine art because it was not appropriate for a witness.

What's with all the 'Imminent' nonsense?
by AK - Jeff incould it be that the proximity of 2014 is at the heart of it?.
i have no contact with jw's - except on this board - but my wife does at times with her family.
imminent is the cry of the sky for the jw's it seems.. i recall the years leading up to 1975 with a lot of that sort of thing.

does anyone really overcome co-dependence behaviors?
by love2Bworldly inmy friend gave me a book she had, called "facing codependence" by pia mellody.
it's not a new book but sounded interesting, so i started reading it this morning.
after 20 pages, i put the book down & started bawling.

BTW, the book that made me cry was Adult Children of Alcoholics by Woititz. I cried and threw the book across the room. But then I picked it up and finished reading it. It made me sad, but it also gave me a lot of insight in my own behavior. So, I get how you feel after reading this book. So sad, and such a lot of wasted time. Well, nothing you can do about the past. All you can do is continue to gain insight into your own behavior, and try to grow.

Someone once told me that you can't change who you are, but you can learn to limit the damage you do. It's hard to overcome codependency, but with awareness you improve, as you know. You'll keep improving, get wiser and wiser, if you just keep working on yourself as you have done.
So, give yourself a pat on the back, keep learning and improving. Right now you're feeling down, so get out and get some exercise in the sunshine to cheer yourself up. Your kids will survive, just as you have, just as so many other people do.

Massive rise in the Columbia River...
by Glander inwe live three miles above the bonneville dam.
they have shut down many gates in order to provide more water for the salmon ladders.
this raises our banks and results in about a 4 foot drop in river levels below the dam.

I've seen the fish ladders on the Columbia -- very cool. Such huge salmon going up the ladders!

Given your perspective, would you rank AA as a cult after reading this?
by NeverKnew ina very dear friend's husband is going to aa and has been successfully clean for a year now.

Thanks for sharing that link. Lots of interesting stuff about Synanon -- I remember when folks were going to EST and Synan and the Moonies. It just made crazy people crazier. As a new ex-JW, fresh out of the org., I remember a distaste for all that crap but I didn't have the understanding yet to see why it was all wrong. and dangerous.

well, one thing about cults is the damage they do. I don't think AA does much damage. It certainly does plenty of good for those who have the problem and need the ongoing support.
