Creepy stuff. Why are teenagers more likely to believe a total stranger than their own parents? It's part of being a teen, I suppose, but it's so dangerous. I like the idea of no phone or computer after bedtime. No phone or computer in the kid's bedroom at all.

Help! My 14 year old has a cyber stalker and won't take it serious
by CADSkin inso my 14 year old daughter recently has been duped into sending a facebook friend a video of her house and random crap by someone pretending to be a 17 year old in the uk.
this set off major warning bells in my wife and i so we started to investigate.
although all very innocent she was obviously being played by a cyber stalker.

That; Which; Who
by compound complex inusing that, which and who to introduce clauses and when to use commas:.
the little boy who lives next door is a noisy, hell-raising brat.
"who lives next store" describes one little boy in particular, not the entire neighborhood of nice and respectful children; therefore, that clause is not set off by commas.

It's probably better, in my opinion, not to break the rules unless it's very significant to the story. That said, some of the rules are awkward, like not ending a sentence with a preposition. Trying to follow that rule all the time results in some very stilted sentences.

Suggestions for replacing igoogle?
by SafeAtHome inokay, so i may be in the minority, but i love igoogle and how i have everything at my fingertips i use (news, weather, bookmarks, toolbar favorites, etc, as well as personalized themes).
it is going away very soon and i dont know what to replace it with.
i have checked out various suggestions on discussion sites but none sound good.

I don't like the search on ighome. It's google, but it's awkward, not as seamless as on igoogle. I'm trying out duckduckgo for a search engine, but their home page has no goodies like news, sticky notes, weather. I tried a couple of others as well, igoogle was just better organized. Too bad it is ending soon.

“It took us nine hours to fly home from Jamaica to England. It took the Americans only three hours to get home. This seems unfair.”
Best laugh!

"you're pretty compassionate for an atheist"
by Hortensia inmy favorite compliment of the day.
what a lot of assumptions people have about what makes an atheist tick..

As for the "you're pretty XXX for being a/an XXX," I love insults hidden inside compliments. Very funny, like a guy I knew was very offended because his girlfriend said his new underpants made him "look really hung." She's the same person who said to me, "you really sound like an educated person." Emphasizing the word "sound."

4 Letters from the Branch read tonight, no warning from this site
by James Jackson intonight at our meeting we had 4 letters from "the branch" read at our meeting.
i was caught off guard since we usually have an advance warning when these letters are going to be read.
is the watchtower getting better at hiding these letters?.

I thought your title was interesting -- so JWN owes it to you to warn you before anything new happens at the KH? Maybe that's not really what you meant, though. It is interesting that stuff shows up here quite often before it shows up at the KH.

man evolved from monkies
Jesus, SPW, you are so behind the times. Humans didn't descend from monkeys. Monkeys and the great apes and chimpanzees and orangutangs all share a common ancestor way the hell back in time. Catch up, man!

Well, maybe if he still reads this forum, he'll stop in and say something rude, eh? He always gave me a laugh.
