A Manual for Creating Atheists by Peter Boghossian
by cofty ina manual for creating atheists offers the first-ever guide not for talking people into faith--but for talking them out of it.
peter boghossian draws on the tools he has developed and used for more than twenty years as a philosopher and educator to teach how to engage the faithful in conversations that will help them value reason and rationality, cast doubt on their religious beliefs, mistrust their faith, abandon superstition and irrationality, and ultimately embrace reason.
- amazon.... "boghossian has provided an indispensible chart book for all of us who must navigate the rising sea of magical thinking that is inundating america today.

The concept of consistency is an enlightenment virtue

Frankly, I think you have a rather silly world view, SBF. The idea that nothing really has meaning and everything is just perspective is just a thought-stopper. You keep derailing rational discussion, shifting to your favorite theme rather than joining in the discussion.

Even if he moves, keep in touch with your brother. He'll be a safe person for venting your feelings and ideas.

Thus you can simply view belief in God as a way of maintaining a model of desired behavior.
That doesn't work. Prisons are full of religious people.

If people didn't start from the position "if god does it, it must be OK," they wouldn't tie themselves up in these ridiculous attempts to find some way to justify cruelty. Their starting position is unthinking and unquestioning, which makes them little drones, doesn't it?

Atheists don't even believe in God!
Who would you prefer to be your surgeon for an important operation? I rest my case.
Non sequitur?

Ignoring the true believers dumping on evolution and going back to original topic: don't you enjoy people watching? Aren't people ridiculous sometimes? Or am I a weirdo for finding so many things funny? I used to say that IF there were a god, he/she/it would be laughing his ass off all the time at what humans do.

Help! My 14 year old has a cyber stalker and won't take it serious
by CADSkin inso my 14 year old daughter recently has been duped into sending a facebook friend a video of her house and random crap by someone pretending to be a 17 year old in the uk.
this set off major warning bells in my wife and i so we started to investigate.
although all very innocent she was obviously being played by a cyber stalker.

Creepy stuff. Why are teenagers more likely to believe a total stranger than their own parents? It's part of being a teen, I suppose, but it's so dangerous. I like the idea of no phone or computer after bedtime. No phone or computer in the kid's bedroom at all.
