Tootired2care -- We never had a discussion to hash it out. My mother asked me once why I didn't go to the KH any more. I told her I didn't believe the Bible, not one word. She asked why not and I said, "there's no point in discussing it, Mom. I'm not going to change my mind." And that was that. We just never talked about it again.

Have you grown detached from caring about JW family and old friends?
by tootired2care inafter being out of the borg for a year and a half, weve dealt with a lot of nonsense from local elders stopping by unannounced, well-meaning do-gooders trying to encourage us.
somehow weve managed to get through this without getting dfd/dad.
for me the worst part of it all has been that much of my family has shunned me, and stopped talking to me, as soon as they heard through the grapevine that i wasnt going to meetings.

I got very detached from my JW relatives, I still had contact with them all but couldn't invest much in them emotionally considering all that had gone before. Now, years later, I have a good relationship with one sister and am forging a better one with the other sister. No one is a JW anymore, BTW.

Does the party need to be a full meal or would finger foods be OK? I think for that money I'd do just desserts or just hors d'oeuvres, plus coffe/tea/punch.

Getting Married next year
by blablabluh inhi all, so i am getting married next year and just looking for some advice.. i left the jw's about 10 years ago now and i am marrying a non jw (who is also a scientist) next year.
my family are all still active and my brother has even agreed to be my best man.
there hasn't really been many issues apart from my mum taking it upon herself to tell everyone early that they do not do toasts.

It's not a JW wedding. Do it the way you like and let the devil take the hindmost. If your brother doesn't want to do a toast, OK. Someone else will do it instead.

from the Urban Dictionary:
Whovian the whovians are considered to be psychopathic rainbow ponies from the extinct planet of gallifrey. They obsess over the words "Pond" and "Bad Wolf". The whovians are very strong. They can beat the shit out of other fandoms, and still have time for a cup of tea with their other fandoms, the supernaural fandom and the sherlock fandom. These fans are willing to donate their eyebrows for the current doctor, Matt Smith who seems to have no eyebrows. They fear nothing in the Earth except their whovian leader, Steven Moffat, the head writer of Doctor Who. They all seem to plan revenge on Moffat for ruining their lives.
The fandom is currently worldwide, planning on being universal (outerspace). If you cross a whovian, make sure you don't say these phrases:
"David Tennant's hair sucks"
"Rose Tyler deserved to die"
"Fuck Rory! AND FUCK AMY TOO" -

Hang in there -- it sounds as though you are getting a handle on it. Bipolar disorder is difficult - I used to live with someone who was bipolar. He would talk himself out of taking his meds once he starting feeling better, and then the cycle would start again. I'm so glad you see the need to stay on your meds.

I really admire all you young people who had the brains to get out of the wtbts early. I didn't get out until I was 30ish. Stay independent, run your own life and get a good education.
