I'm so sorry for your daughter and all of you in your family. It's much more common than people realize -- and it's often people we trust who betray that trust. Your daughter will get better, and I hope you pursue those people with all the legal force available to you.

My own daughter has much suffered; she will get justice in due time.
by TheFadingAlbatros injust learned today direct from my beloved daughter that she has been abused between 5 and 12 years old by 2 brothers (her own cousins) and 1 family "friend".

My difficulties in writing academic essays, contrasted with the same difficulties by NK elites
by fulltimestudent ini struggle to write good academic essays.
i'm never happy with the result of my labours.
i've had a few hds, but still feel they lack something.. for some months, i have been pondering why i have this problem, and the realisation is becoming clear that my problem is the result of having my brain washed clean by jesus for 40 years (my period of enslavement to the wt cause).

Thanks for sharing. Interesting! If people never exercise critical thinking, they never develop it either. It withers and dies. It's a lot easier to just believe, I think, than to ask questions and maybe have to change your ideas in the face of evidence.

Are the scriptures and literature of the Jehovah’s Witnesses open for interpretation and criticism? Has there been a time where you yourself have questioned the teachings or scriptures? If yes, can you be specific about what you have questioned?
The scriptures and literature of JWs are absolutely NOT open for interpretation and criticism. Criticism, or even just asking questions, is considered rebellious and can lead to your being called an apostate. Apostates are shunned and condemned.
I never questioned the teachings until I had been out of the Watchtower Society for a while. I quit going because I was overwhelmed, worn out and depressed. Once I had some space to think for myself, I realized that I didn't believe any of their doctrines. I'm an atheist -- because of the fossil record and DNA mostly, but also because the whole idea of god seems ridiculous.
I don't know that my answers are very helpful. You might want to contrast our answers with answers from those who are still true believers. Maybe post your questions on some JW facebook page? I think the contrast might be very interesting.

Pat Condell on Britain's Cultural Crisis
by cofty ina scandal is brewing in the uk.
for many years gangs of asian men engaged in rape and torture of young girls who were in the "so-called" care system.
it is believed there were around 1,400 victims in north west england, focussed on the town of rotherham.. if reports are to be believed, social workers, police and the cpc knew it was happening and everybody failed to act for one simple reason.

Oh, it's so sickening. It's not just Britain -- it's all over the world. Islam is a dangerous religion, vicious, violent, vengeful. And power-hungry. And people bend over backwards to give Islam the benefit of the doubt.

US Supreme Court rejects JW blood transfusion case.
by Emily24 inhttp://www.minbcnews.com/news/story.aspx?id=1129875#.vh1mijhf_ng.
http://www.freep.com/story/news/local/michigan/2014/12/01/supreme-court-religious-beliefs-appeal/19734249/.
"washington (ap) -- the supreme court won't hear an appeal from the estate of a michigan woman who died following a kidney transplant after turning down a blood transfusion because of her religious beliefs.. the justices on monday let stand a state appeals court ruling that said the estate of gwendolyn rozier could not sue her doctors for negligence.. rozier received a kidney from her daughter in a 2007 surgery but doctors later found that her body was rejecting the organ.

Even if they have liability insurance, being sued by a patient's family when the doctors have made a good-faith effort to save the patient -- well, it's very stressful and discouraging. It's still painful to be sued for negligence, even if you are very confident you did the best you could. I'm glad the courts are agreeing with the doctors.

How to disassociate? HELP
by Mandrake ini'm looking for a way to disassociate myself, now i'm thinking to make a "public declaration" before a civil law notary (i'm in chile), but i need some ideas about what to put in that declaration, i would like to look the "ks" book to cover all possible sides and make a solid declaration... any experiences?
my plan is to make that legal declaration that would say "i'm no longer consider myself a jehovah's witness nor want to be linked to any of the wt organizations or legal entities, and want all my personal records to be erased"... any orientation will be helpful :).

I like On the Way Out's idea. Swear to the document legally in front of the KH with the press attending. Good idea!

What's wrong with that letter? She doesn't agree with what you are doing, but agrees you have the right to live life your way. She makes an interesting point about not having the power in the situation -- indicates to me that she has a little bit of reality in her brain. No mention of god, or the bible, which is interesting. She apologizes for giving you pain -- most Jdubs would accuse you of causing THEM pain.

Yeah, Zeb, how about reforestation? In 10 to 20 years they could plant a hell of a lot of trees and make a difference. Locally I give what support I can to a group of organizations that are trying to reclaim land, restore the natural forest and create a land corridor for wild animals. But that's not enough -- it needs to be a world-wide effort.

old age starts when you can't remember why you went into the kitchen, until you back-track your steps to the living room. Then you suddenly remember and head back to the kitchen, but can't remember by the time you get there.
