do you want me to check in my husband's pockets? That's where I usually find our remote.

Got proposed to today
by hambeak ina very nice lady and very pretty who has been coming in for a few weeks now, is starting to become a fatal attraction.. she comes in for the most idiotic requests and has asked me out numerous times.
i keep giving her some excuse for not going out.. i can't tell her i am gay as that can destroy everything at work here.. any ideas?
i don't want to hurt her feelings or stop her from spending her money here as well as sending her friends and neighbors.

whether you are gay is beside the point, she is being inappropriate and your personal life ain't nobody's business but your own. You don't have to explain why you won't go out with her, other than stating your boundary.

how about the truth - say that you absolutely never mix business and personal relationships and you can't make an exception. Making up things just makes people mad, and if they are already being inappropriate and pushy, it is important to show them that you at least have some boundaries. you can say it pleasantly, and keep repeating it pleasantly, without any explanations. Then it is up to her whether or not she can hear the word "no" or you have to call the cops.

another whacko conspiracy theory, with folks who don't understand their own information. my favorite line: "weighed barely 190 pounds when his mother tried to bail him out of George Hill Correctional Facility"

nice to hear from you - I don't think of myself as crafty, but I like to knit socks - small projects, easily portable, infinitely variable.

The Supernatural and JW's
by winnie incan anyone explain why jehovahs witnesses are not allowed to watch anything supernatural?.
-
Hortensia
they are obsessed with demons and so they demonize everything. They are very convincing, I had dreams about demons for years and would wake up shouting "jehovah" even years after I no longer believed in jehovah or any religious crap.

For those who were raised in "the truth"
by Hangin_on inhow many of you always felt like you would be killed at armageddon no matter what you did... it was never enough and your parents put a guilt trip on you?

sorry to get in on this late - took seven weeks to get dsl at my new house!!! I was both afraid of dying at A and afraid my violent alcoholic dangerous psychopath father would kill us all. What a childhood - as one of you said the horrible stuff about A was a form of childhood abuse, very Dickensian, eh? Interesting thing is, although I can see I am a somewhat fucked up person, I am also one of the happiest people I know, just through sheer relief at surviving both the dangerous father and the sick religion, I guess.

I FEEL YOUR PAIN!
by spidey9322 inmuch to my surprise when i found this site...i noticed that many have experienced the same typr of humiliation, asn despaid as i have throughout my 36 years on this earth.
in reading some of these stories (even after being out of the truth) for over 20 years...it still brings chills to my spine about how i was treated.
where do i begin?

how many dreams of terror have I had that I was going to die at Armaggedon because I was not a part of the JW organization?
I also had terrible dreams of dying at armageddon, and terrible frightening dreams about demons, even after I quit being a JW and even after I felt deep inside myself that I didn't believe a word of it. Hard to undo all that early abuse and training, but it can be done. Keep reminding yourself what a wicked evil horrible organization it is, and how it systematically teaches people it is OK not to love or care for others.
something that helped me in my post-JW relationships is a little book called "The Struggle for Intimacy." It is about adult children of alcoholics, but nearly everything the author says applies to adult escapees from the WTBTS and how difficult it is for them to form mature healthy relationships. The author's name is Woititz, I think.

here's a laugh for you - I was never disfellowshipped, just stopped attending and told my mother I didn't believe a word of the Bible and there was no point in trying to convince me otherwise. She never shunned me, just sighed in a pointed way every now and then. Here's the funny bit: I married a Presbyterian Republican pot-smoking member of the NRA. My mother and her husband came to the wedding, but wouldn't go inside the church, so they watched it all from outside, through a window. Everyone else at the wedding thought that was really WEIRD which it was, of course. We had a nice reception, some friends started dancing in a circle, all female, and my mother asked if they were lesbians. I said no, they just want to dance. I jumped in and danced too, and had a great time. The next day we had a long party at the house, just everyone hanging out and having a good time. My mother and stepfather (two tiny little people who looked sort of like a pair of salt and pepper shakers sitting side by side) stayed the whole day. At the end of the day, my mother said, in tones of real surprise, "why your friends are NICE!"
Huh!
