I think Hortensia is a funny name. At least it amuses me.

Why did you pick the name you have now
by label licker injust wondering if your name describes what you saw, how you were treated when you were "in" or now "out", maybe your personality, ect.... i'm label licker and the why i picked this name was because of all the licking up one side of elders and down the other to either be an elder or ministerial servant.
one time i was standing right in front of this brother who wasn't made an ms yet and he totally ignored me and talked right over my head speaking really loud trying to catch the co's attention.. got sick of watching the poor elderly sitting all alone or standing against the wall like a wall flower with noone to talk to and yet all these label lickers would take turns picking up the elders elderly parents and take them shopping and do their groceries at least four times a week while out in service, yet, there was noone there to take a meal to a sister who just got out of the hospital with a heart attack.
when i had shown up at her apartment with a meal she asked if i could wash her private and change her bandages.

Not sure what to do next
by magotan ini'm 19, and i'm still currently a jw.
i guess i'm a born-in, or whatever you guys call it.
i've had some serious issues with the faith at the moment, and sexuality is a huge part.

Very interesting and positive thread. Nowwhat, were you joking?
Kid, (I'm old, I can call you "kid") you sound pretty smart to me. Don't let other people tell you how to live your life. You're the one who has to pay for the decisions you make, so make good decisions.
As for your father losing his position if you DA/leave, that's his problem. Let people solve their own problems. It leads to personal growth.

My Jw mother hates me and always has
by 20yearfader ini just need to vent, you see i was a born in.it's taken me 20 years after fading from the org to finally get my mind free from the wt dogma.i was on the phone with my aunt today and the subject of my mother her older sister came up.now mind you i haven't spoken to my mother in a month or so after my daughter stayed the weekend at her house and she was being tag teamed about the hall and how i took a vow to jehovah and i'm a failure and i'll be destroyed at armagedon.this exchange upset my daughter so much that she was near the point of tears when she returned home and she hasnt spoken to my mother or father since.anyway back to the conversation with my aunt, she let it slip that my mother told her that she wished she had let the seamen that fertilized the egg that produced me had slid down her legnno bear in mind i can remember as a child running into her room playing and she would say to me as a 7 year old child "i wished i had left you in oblivion"this is one of many such saying my mother had for me......i wasn't a bad child i just wasn't allowed to do anything such as going outside going over a friends house....etc,i have struggled for years as to why this woman hates me so.i got baptized at 15 really as a way of pleasing them what the hell does a child know at 15??
?granted it took me some time to get myself together and put those hurtful comments in the past, but today when my aunt let it slip about what my mother has said about me it was like pulling a scap off of a wound.my wife always complains about how im emotionless and distance, this was done by me as a way of protecting myself.so i've decided and i hate to say this that my christian god fearing parents...are dead to me there is no way i can have a relationship with people that are so wicked and since she never wanted me anyway....it works out for the best thx i just needed to vent i felt like i was going to pop..

I'm sorry you suffered so long. Some parents are like that. It's dreadful for the kids and takes a long time for the kids to learn the parent is in the wrong, not the child.
You don't owe your parents anything. Turn your back and go find more loving friends.

New Member...
by sosoconfused inhello everyone, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself.. i am a mid 30's just stepped aside elder, who just couldn't handle it anymore.. i am a 3rd generation born-in and former pioneer and bethelite.
it has been a log somewhat confusing ride for me, but i am finally settling in to realizing that i need to really look at what me and my family are doing.. .
its funny though what really got me here... it wasn't the 40 year old men telling me they were looking at boobies on the computer and hoping not to get in trouble, it wasn't the watching young people bail left and right, it wasn't the ever changing new light etc... but a simple thought.. .

Hi and welcome. I'm glad you love your parents. I wonder if they would give a sigh of relief if you told them to take a rest for a while from pioneering and eldering?

What was the best KISS you ever experienced?
by Terry inthe phone rang in the art gallery and i answered.. the voice was a young woman's.. one of her two parrots had died rather suddenly.. she wanted a colorful frame for the memorial portrait.
could we accomodate her?.
the remaining bird was sulking.. i suggested parrots without partners.. i don't where my tasteless jokes come from.

wow, I got mentioned! It would be fun to meet many of you, but I'm rather out of the way so not likely.
I'd like to do a tour of the UK someday, and meet up with the British JWN folks, cofty and teabag for instance.

Is it wrong to stay in?
by confusedteenager ini feel like, i don't believe in the majority of what the gb teaches, but all of my friends and family are invested in this organization and i feel it would be easier on me to just play the part and continue going through the motions then try to leave right now.
is this taking the coward way out?.
i just feel like i wouldn't have much to look forward if i stepped away..

Work on being independent financially, go to school, find your own abode, get to know people at work, school, hobbies (meetup), get to know non-jw family.
I agree.

I ran a company and paid payroll for 20 years. I know whereof I speak. One of the things that pissed me off was that someone who no longer worked for me and was laid off two jobs after working for me, would still be paid partly through my unemployment account. I paid the maximum for unemployment, because people who formerly worked for me were getting laid off from other jobs.
Oh well. It costs money to run a company. BTW, I don't think I said that unemployment insurance is an entitlement benefit.
I had to laugh when you said that the boss makes more money off the employee than the employee is paid.
