  this is a really great video about how the original pronunciation of a language, during the time a play was written and performed, can affect the feeling and meaning.

  i thought it was interesting.

  who has actually read the entire Bible?

  no matter how many times i've tried, i just couldn't get through the whole thing.

  you know, there were always those reminders to read the bible, have a personal study, go out in service, and.... the other two of the five things we were supposed to do i already forgot.

  so, i constantly felt guilty that i just had no interest.

  When I was young and in the wtbts, we were encouraged to read three chapters a day, which meant you would read the whole bible in a year. I did it several times.

  I understand they don't encourage that nowadays. Is that true?

  van nuys >> a man who was an usher at a kingdom hall of jehovahs witnesses in sun valley pleaded no contest thursday to sex-related counts involving three boys he met there.. marcelo lozano, 34, of sun valley, pleaded no contest to two counts of continuous sexual abuse and one count of oral copulation of a person under 14.. he is facing 30 years in state prison when he is sentenced oct. 8 by van nuys superior court judge leslie dunn.. lozano is also expected to be ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life following his release from prison.. .

  i never was a jw, and in many ways my interest was academic.

  i have known, and know, some jws and ex-iws and know something of (but not personally) the effects that wtbts has on people.

  the effects, imho, are not positive.

  I agree. I have no respect for religion, and I don't mind saying so. When you look honestly at the crazy doctrines, the damage done to the members and the pure deceit, how could you respect it? I know people can choose to believe if they want to, but they can't expect me to pussyfoot around them and hold my tongue when the bullshit gets too deep.

  one of the families in the hall called me last night and let another piece of the puzzle out.

  apparently there was another family that we don't even know who had gotton a phone call from these jerk off elders down here questioning them about us and what they knew.

  (anything negative).

  Well, "piss off" is short and sweet. Give that other suffering family your phone number in case some day they leave too. Tell the elders to piss off. Turn your back and walk away.

  She said she is a jw and asked if i was inactive or df'd.

  They've always got to place you somewhere in their structure. I think I wouldn't answer that, maybe just say, "does it matter?"

  Isn't it a relief to live an authentic life? That was the biggest relief for me when I got out of the wtbts. To stop striving for other people's approval, to stop pretending I loved that life when I hated it, to find normal non-judgemental friends, to spend time on my own interests -- it was such a relief.
