Unless you charge them with a "green" power source they still require power from a coal or natural gas plant. The more people that buy them the more electrical demands will be placed on power plants. It takes a massive amount of wattage to recharge an electric car each night.
You may look like a progressive enlightened motorist driving one but you are accomplishing nothing.

I love Tobasco sauce even though I get nothing but a hot tongue out of it. And I pay $94.46 per gallon for it.

$3 lets me drive 38 miles instead walking or riding a bike. My commute is 60 miles round trip which would equate to six hours on my bike in all types of weather. But for $6 I can do it in my car with heat/AC and soft seat and a kick ass stereo system.
However I refuse to spend $58 a gallon for coffee that I can make myself for a couple cents.

her mother started up going to jw about 4 years ago, and i guess i wasn't watching what they were doing to my daughter closely enough (but then, they don't want you to).

Thanks for posting that! Just this weekend my JW mom tried to tell me the Borg never discouraged college. She tried to tell me it my "choice" to not go back in 83' when I graduated. They would not let me take any of the college prep classes while I was in high school. I still managed to go after I left the cult but I had to pay for dozens of classes that would have been free while I was in high school.
I will be emailing that excerpt to her today.

here in the uk we're paying over a 1 a litre for regular unleaded fuel, that's about $9 per gallon for my american friends.
now i'm as aware as anyone that the bulk of my fuel pound goes to the government in duty (or fuel tax) but let's just look at the bottom line cost to you and i as motorists - 1/litre.. just getting the the damn stuff out of the ground is dangerous and expensive, especially at offshore rigs.
then you have to transport it, refine it and transport it again.
I agree with you Nicolaou, people spend way more on bottled water and much on a latte then they ever have on gas. For me a $3 gallon of gas means I do not have to walk 38 miles. That is one hell of a bargain in my book.
i finally had the chance to talk to my mum about growing up as a witness and my thoughts on her religion, needless to say it didn't go well.
i don't think she has ever really worked out the implications are of what she believes, i pointed out that it is really difficult to relate to (and have a relationship with) someone who is looking forward to the day when her murderous little god kills her children.
i don't think she really understood the point i was making or didn't want to think about the point i was making.
I had the exact same confrontation with my mom this weekend with the same results. It is very liberating and cleansing to get that out. I was able to shoot down every doctrinal excuse she tried on me. She has alot to think about now because I got alot of long pauses from most of my questions. If she gave snap JW answers she knew I was prepared for them so she had to think out her answers.
They may be good JW debaters but they are not very good at logical debate.

i understand from news of the world that anthony gough wants to sue the hospital because he feels they were neglient in saving his wife's life.
A lawsuit would draw alot of negative attention from all over the world. There are still people that either do not reallize the JW blood doctrine or don't think they actually would take it seriousely. Sunlight is always the best sanitizer.
If that only reaches one current JW and starts them thinking and most importantly, questioning thier cult then you have done some amazing work with just a few words.
