please dont comment saying to "run" or "get out while i can" thank you im not new to this, so i can handel it.

i have been with my boyfriend for 3 years, we started dating in high school and now i am going to college and he is working.

i am 20 and he is 21, i was raised catholic but my mom and i are too open minded for the church so we left.

He won't get over it since the headship principle is to his benefit. JW men are good at spewing Watchtower nonsense when it suits them. You notice he did not quote the bible on the subject of sex outside of marriage, right? The bible's view on that subject wasn't to his liking, so he forgot to mention that fornicators will end up in the Lake of Fire.

Ditch him and find another man that you can have an equal relationship with.

What is the best question to ask a witness

lets have a free for all .

i would say why dont you have a book study anymore but that one is done to death... we had a witness recently and i asked for the latest jw only mag (he didn't realise i used to be in his cong... have i done that good a job at fading?

) it was a laugh to see the two of them struggle to come up with an answer.... ok lets here the best you can come up with, there has to be some better than mine, what question will leave them stuck for an answer...... .

i've always wanted to ask this question to those that have decided to leave the organization.. what will you do when the great tribulation begins?.

right now folks, a lot is happening in the political world.. gordon brown (prime miniter of england) last week gave a speech to the un stating that it is time for the un to step in and solve the world's problems, (specifically mentioning the economy and hunger crisis worldwide.).

barrack obama is shaping up to be the next president, a fellow who sure knows how to persuade and lead great crowds.

so my girlfriend and i are getting very serious, and i've bought her engagement ring, should be done being built sometime in may.

then at some point later, i'm going to ask her to marry me.

she was with me and picked out her ring, so she knows its coming.

It sure is nice to see this level of maturity in our spiritual "older men". Certainly helps us realize the extent that the Holy Spirit is involved in the selection of Jehovahs' Witness elders.

And all of them will ask, "Where is your dad?"

Perhaps you could plan on saying something like, "Dad was invited, but he chose not to come because we don't agree about religion. Since I attend a different church than him he did not want to attend the wedding".

If they ask for more information, I suppose you could offer to provide details later, after the wedding when the timing is better for talking about such things.

As to the comments marked in red, don't let it get to you. Those comments serve a purpose; to remind us how desperately JWs want to transfer the responsiblity for their actions onto others.

surprizeingly, i am not a jw but an observer and in partial agreement with the jehovah witnesses on many issues.

i have been to many churches in my 30 years and have studied many church beliefs, church history and the bible as well.

so why do i believe the jehovah witnesses are the one true faith of jehovah god?.

I am surprised that they allowed a sister to stand up and say that she sews clothes - sewing is a time consuming hobby. In the 80s in the congregation I attended, sewing was kind of a fad with the sisters, and I remember personally being counseled by an elder's wife about not spending time sewing. She told me that she buys all her clothes and that allows her to spend more time in field service.

I'm pretty sure I've heard a version of this story, although it wasn't set in Japan. How kind of the author (editor?) to update the story to include a submissive Asian sister. That's always a nice touch.

i got this in an e-mail from a childhood friend that is still an active jw.

i found it to be very upsetting and was wondering if anyone else gets the kind of e-mail forwards from friends/family that are still in?

and how you handle it.

Not to belabour the point too much, but I think it is worth repeating your friend's assumption back to her.

Assumption

The probability of marrying a man who

- has a sexually transmitted disease

- will not live up to his family responsibilities

- will hurt and abuse his mate

is lower if the man is a Jehovah's Witness compared to if the man is not a Jehovah's Witness.

The question I have for your friend is this. What scientific evidence does she have that this assumption is true? I'm asking for statistics. Quotes from the Watchtower don't count. Gut feelings don't count.

I think these gross generalizations come from a broader desire of individual JWs to somehow justify their religion, when they know it doesn't make sense doctrinally. As in, "Well, even it it's wrong, it's a good way to live, it keeps us safe". But does it really do that? Are they really better off as JWs? What do they really know about people who are not Jehovah's Witnesses?
