Welcome back.....Ohhh, I love stand up too. Others have asked and I'd like to know also, does your routine contain any JW material. PLEASE say it does....I think we would all like to offer you free material to do a comedy take on. And please do let us know when your YouTude Vidio is ready.

Hello Everyone...
by Abandoned ini've been away for quite awhile.
well, not really, just away from any discussion of that horrid religion.
i just couldn't give any more seconds of my life to talking about anything even remotely related to jehovah's witnesses.

Aren't Jehovah's Witnesses just living in a ''Comfort Zone''?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy immediate family, aunts, uncles, and cousins have been members for over 25 years.
they attend every meeting, put in their 10 hours of monthly sevice, attend assemblies out of state every year, give talks at the ministry school, avoid "worldly friends'',and do everything the wts requires of them.
they really can't see that the wts has lied to them and will continue until someone steps back and opens their eyes.. what needs to happen in order for someone to get out of the ''comfort zone''?

I just read a newspaper artical about a local church inviting Chernobyl Russian children to come here for medical treatment and respite from the radiation contaminated homes. They pay of travel, give the children clothing, healthy food and donate vision, dental and medical exams. These children live without running water, washing machines, or even toilets and hot showers. The visits open the childrens eyes to a different way of life, to freedoms that Americans take for granted. The hosts who take in the youths accept them into their families and look on them as a 'gift'
This is what I call 'stepping out of your comfort zone'
Going door to door, telling people to study the Bible, go to meetings and figure out how you are going to change your bad ways without any education or help from us, how hard is that?

It is a rut.....but it's a fur lined rut. Think about it, no BD cards to buy or send, no Xmas gifts to buy, no charity work or money to give out. The list goes on and on. I've been saying this for some time now. The 5meetings a week, 10hr service, and assemblies.....I can do that in my sleep. Now that I'm out and sending BD cards, well, I understand why the Rut was so comfortable
btw.....BD cards used as a symbol here.....the issue is much deeper.....I'm just to tired this morning for all worldly activies.....phew!

I agree with many of the other long time users / few time posters I have learned so much from this board and send a huge Thank You out to all of you for your support through my darkest days of fading away from the troof. I do believe I was depressed for many many years because I was fighting the need to leave. Once I found you all, my mind began to calm and understand I was not alone. You have become my friends although it is one sided because I am quiet by nature. Once in awhile I do pipe in with a little something but by the time I post, often the thread is about dead. I am very often late to the party, so to speak.
I am working on opening up and adding my voice more often. In the meantime Thank You for showing interest in we of the Low Post Count Group

Bethel Art Dept: Are They More Liberal/Free Thinking?
by Open mind ini recently saw the cover of an new watchtower on "spirituality".
it was very appealing to me visually.
it's got this beautiful woman sitting next to a stream and she's wearing some flowing wrap over her clothes.

Thank you Drew for setting me straight. The artist I was thinking of is Drew Struzan, I googled him. Actually I met him once, back in the day. You might enjoy reading and looking at his work.....very very cool. He is still a very sought after movie artist. Have no idea if still an active JW but I'd sure like to know ??? When I have time I will do some digging and let you all know.
I really enjoy you clever posts and comments. 1982 huh....I have shoes older than you

If the sisters were allowed to wear pants...
by Angry_Kangaroo init might be easier to dress modestly.
think about it, there is always admonitions against slits in skirts (which a lot of skirts have), too short dresses and skirts, etc.
not to mention not having to worry about someone peeping up your dress as you walk up the bleachers at the dc.

I also never understood why sisters were allowed to wear shorts to picnics but skirt at the knee or above was forbidden. My husband explained it was about the 'easy access' feature.
And it's about the time the CC's wife wore a Skort to a picnic.....looked like a mimiskirt to me, what's that about? I was told, it's short pants = no easy access feature

Contol Control Control.....it is the Borg after all. When was IN, this was a big issue for me. In the 60's my husband wore a Bow Tie and was removed from the pioneer list = Contol. Then he wore flared pants and was removed from the Ministry School Student list = Control. He grew sideburns lower than mid-ear and was publicly reproved = Control
I could go on and on, this was our experience yet we kept on going = Control.
They have no scriptural basis for any of these rules but when you question the rule you are Apostate. I don't agree that I am Apostate but they put that title on me = Contol

hum.....you see I am a Newbe, just noticed a Drew Sagan posting on another Thread......Hello Out There....Are you the Artist Drew Sagan? sorry, I'm old now and confussed easily.
Yes, artists in gerneral are often liberal thinking. Under GB mind control these guys are just art slaves, no personal expression allowed. They do as they are told. In the Middle Ages artists were sponsered by the church so most of the art in museums from that time is religious themed. They got their personal politics in by using symbolism.

Ok, I just submited a post but Where did it go? Oh well, maybe it will show up later....anyway.....as I was saying.....years ago a witness in the LA area, a professional artist did some WT covers and inside illustrastions. Can't remember his name but it's Drew....something? Sagan, maybe. He did the original Star Wars movie posters for George Lucas and many rock music album covers. I went to a few of his gallery openings and was on his mailing list for years. Ah but that was a long long time ago and far far away......I live on a different planet now.
The work was very recognizable and far more professional than the in house Bethel guys.
