  a currently active jdub acquaintance occasionally stops by to say hello and we share a wee dram or two.

  after the general small talk of new cars, exotic vacations and sports we often get into the "why" we are xjubs.

  he is a well educated publisher who holds a phd in child psychology.

  Regular Pioneer hour requirement?

  my son the 'elder' stopped in last night.

  he does not shun us but our visits are few and far between.

  he mentioned in passing that he and his wife began reg pioneering last oct. i know the hour requirement is way down from my pioneering years of 100hr per month.

  Encouraging experience

  sorry to use that jdub cliche' but it seems to fit.

  last week i had opportunity to visit a nephew i had not seen in many years.

  he is a quiet young man, just 21 but knows who he is and stands up for what he believes.

  Beatles on the History Channel

  did anyone catch the beatles on the record, last night on the history channel?

  a really good program with lots of never before seen footage and interviews.

  george martin narrates much of it and give lots of insight behind the making of the music.. the history channel repeats these programs fairly often but i could not find it scheduled on the website guide.

  Letting Go of God on SHOWTIME this week

  if you have showtime channels everybody should watch this program, letting go of god.

  raised roman catholic, comic julia sweeney chronicles her conversion to atheism.. it will be on today at 5:30, again thur at 5:00pm.

  the show is insightful but also entertaining.

  i just learned there was a service meeting part last week on how to treat df ones.

  the person i heard this from said it was very hard on many in her congo.

  did anyone attend that meeting or has there been discussion here?

  My First Halloween

  as a life long jw, i have never worn a costume, given out candy, carved a pumpkin, let alone volunteer at a haunted house fund raiser halloween party.

  so for the very first time i wore all black with a very scary mask and terrified the bejesus out of little children.

  wow was that fun!

  Elderly parents and the Book Study

  do any of you have elderly jw parents?

  my mom is 89, good health and very active jw.

  her world is the local congergation and 5meeting per week.she has her sunday outfits, tues, school dress, and thurs afternoon more casual styles.
