Not the best concert but I'll bet nobody can beat The Beatles / Hollywood Bowl 1964. Yep, that was me screaming and crying Paul P A U L I love youuuu!
Like I said NOT the best, couldn't hear a thing. Much later I graduated to the Stones and fell in love with Mick.
But The Best Showman is the BOSS, Bruce Springsteen. I have worshipped at the 'Church of Bruce' 4 times and going again next March. You come away filled with the Holy Spirit of Rock and Roll
Eric Clapton is awsome and moving in concert.
Pink Floyd, David Gilmore and Roger Water, together, seperate, they make my brain grow

Is There Something Specific That U Regret Not Doing Because You Were A JW?
by minimus indid you want to belong to a social club but couldn't because it was "worldly" and witnesses don't get involved with the world?.
did you not go to college simply because witnesses say it's bad?.
did you deprive your kids of things because you were a "good jw"?.

not my #1 regret, that list is LONG but in the top 10.....
I had very bad teeth as a child, mom said 'Jehovah will fix them in the NW......FF 45yrs....I got braces and became a very old posteri child for Adult Orthodontia. I had to have jaw surgery and wore the braces for 4yrs. If it were done when I was a child, no surgery and the braces worn a much shorter time.

Anyone else here with ADD/ADHD?
by proplog2 ini have had this problem all my life.
i have a child that also has it.
since people with adhd have a problem fitting into organizations do you think it may be one of the reasons why you just couldn't take the jw's any more.

I would agree that medication should not be the first course of action when dealing with a disorder. Many things have to be taken into consideration, physical and emotional.
As far as medical science, with research we could find as many professional who are pro medication as we would find con. Each child must be studied on an individual basis and treated accordingly. Sending out a blanket statement that all medication is useless is just not responsible.
I have known children who suffered with ADD to the point of self hatred. With medication they thrived and became find young adults. Low self esteem can be as detrimental as any other handycap.
I know first hand that ADD can be inherited and is a VERY REAL disorder. Medication alone is not enough, treatment should include teaching skill that compensate for the learning disability.
Parents must be very involved and do lots of research. In the end, if medication is called for, it can be a lifesaver.

um..... ADD or ADHD is not mental illness. It is a challenging learning disability for sure but not psyhotic.
Not to be too PC, but I sort of take offense to the Mental Illness reference. And don't anybody go to the Retarded Label, OK. my brother called me Retard and Moron, I got issues

ADD, ADHD and dyslexic issues manifest in many different ways. The symtoms can be anywhere from mild to full blown. It IS NOT a disapline problem. People with this challange learn in a different way. Each person needs an individual assesment of how he/she learns. Thankfully now schools can test for this and if willing much can be done to help children as well as adults compensate for this disorder.
I had a difficult time in school, born in 52' , well before any educators had understanding. I did not behave badly just slow to read and stay on task. I self diagnosed as an adult when the issue began to be written about in the early 80's. I had learned to compensate for the difficulties I faced but always felt different. As if I did not belong to the group of 'accepted' people.
I only began to realise that ADD was a part of my JW issues a short time ago. As I said, I was different and as such did not fit into the JW club. They talked down to me and kept me from reaching out to the educational possibilities I craved. My teachers recognized my artistic mind but the 'Meetings' told me not to prusure a career in art nor any endeavor. I tried pioneering but.....are you kidding me LOL.....keep a record of hours, d2d, return visits, underlind the answers......LOL
I have one son with the condition and I never put him on medication. Not that I am against it....if they need a pill, give'em a Pill' but also nutritional and behavioral treatment should be given a chance first.
Please everyone out there that has ever felt ADD or ADHD was an excuse for bad behavior, please do some reading before you pass judgement on us. We are just unique, as you are too.

JW's - Who Started Smoking Once You Left?
by BBOARD infor those of you who grew up as a jw (or not) you knew what, according to jehovah/wts, was expected of you in terms of strict morals and conduct.
how many of you never touched a cigarette or smoked while being raised as a jw but suddenly started once you left for various reasons ie just to be rebellious, to fit in with "wordlings", to overcompensate for your restricted youth etc.
i know i did and it feels great except for the nasty smoke smell.

proud to say a ciggie never touched my lips. a few cigars in the teen years. It was never appealing as my dad was a chain smoker so I could see the slave he became.
As to it making you look older.....um.....oh my dear, Never take your 'youth' for granted. Looking young for your age is a GIFT. It means the agening process will be good to you. Nature will take it's course and the years will catch up. Before you know it, no one.....will be asking for your ID. Do you hear me......Be Proud to show you ID.
I am now 55 and on good days mistaken for 40 but never 30. Please be PROUD of looking young, do not rush through your youth.

oh....another 'hairy' story was when a CO came through and we had a young black brother w shaved head, aux pioneering. The CO said looked wordly and his pioneee application was to be withdrawn. They assigned my husband to the job and he refused......lots more drama over that.
The entire black family became inactive over the issue, citing racial discrimination.

My husband was an elder, 10yrs before he stepped down. The reasons were cumulative but it all hit the fan when he was a visiting speaker at a neighboring congergation. Our son, 13 had cut his own hair, shaved the sides, normal on top. He showed he was sorry and the situation was resolved and we attended with dad to his speaking assignment. At our next meeting the other elders informed him that he would not be giving public talks until further notice. Why? A brother had complained about our son's haircut, too worldly - fadish, and that he did not have his own family in control so he could not teach others.
Another issue was that my husband had to remind the others to open each Elder Meeting with a prayer. They would always just start talking about the business at hand and forget to 'ask for Jehovah's guidance' He began to call the meetings the 'Boys Club' with the secret handshake instead of a God directed arrangement.
During the teenage drama years, he saw many elders cover and sweep under the rug the disapproved behavior of their own children while others had the screws put to them.
He was on a judical committee for a couple with marriage problems. He knew the husband to be verbally abusive and controlling. The wife left and was eventually DF and the husband got off scott free. He has not yet gotten over the saddenss he feels for that women.
He felt the power struggle and peer pressure to climb the ladder, kiss the CO butt and be an outright hypocrite.
