  The Moody Blues - Your Favorite Songs and Albums from them ?

  a band i really liked a lot growing up and as an adult was he moody blues.

  their mixing of orchestration from an instrument called the " mellotron " and mixing the orchestration with electric guitars was fantastic.

  they wrote very meaningful lyrics analyzing the situations in life as well as the world scene at the time.

  You 50somthiing guys are all the same......Nights In White Satin and copin a feel. That song takes me,a 50something gal, back to the JW skating parties. I was a fan but it seems to me the guys were really into them. Days of Future Past and The Ohter Side of Life are my favorites. We have all the records, CD's and now on the MP3player. These guys are part of our everyday listening, never grow tired of their style.

  A funny story. My parents were liberal and allowed me to attend concerts and such. My girlfriends parents were very strict but when we talked about going to see the Moody Blues her mom was OK with it because they had a full orchestra backing them. Yeah, like they were a classical group so we couldn't possibly get into trouble.

  We just can not let this thread die. As I read through your posts, I feel a connection to each of you and it's all because of the Four Lads. Would we all agree, music is the Greatest Gitf. My musical taste runs the field from classical to jazz to blue grass but the Fab Four hold the most impact. All my children, ages 29 - 32 are Beatle Fans also. They all have a CD collection almost a big as their dad and I.

  Mr Flipper, I hope that one day we can meet for a Beatle Fest, wouldn't that be a hoot. I too love Beatle Trivia. Several people noted George's 'Something' as a favorite. Did you know Frank Sinatra once said 'Someting' is one of the best love songs ever written' He recorded it in his style but George comes through.

  Our son gave us tickets to Pauls concert a few years back, $200ea, very nice. It was just after George died and he did a salute with all his songs, very touching. Another little known fact is that George was a great Ukulele player.

  Thanks for a lovely weekend of recalling Beatle fond memories. 'In My Life' people come and go but my friends the Beatles will remain.

  the rolling stones - the polar opposite of the beatles but just as good in their " bad boy " image way !

  Satisfaction is perhaps the greatest Rock+Roll song ever. Of course music is very subjective but most rockers would have it near the top.

  'She's So Cold' has the most sentimental connection for me. A great dance rife.

  Where's the strangest place you have left your cell phone?

  thursday nights i cook dinner next door for my aunt, my cousin and her three girls.

  so this past thursday, right after dinner, cognac called me on my cell phone.

  While moving, I was carrying in a box of rarely used kitchen ware,talking on cell phone. A few hours later can't find my phone, a frantic search ensues, we never find the thing. FF 2yrs later, have a new recipe for the crockpot. I open the lid and there is the long lost phone, dead and obsolete.

  Wow, this is really cool. I was just thinking of starting a Beatles thread, er well, sometime much later.

  no time to read all posts now but just had to say, last night with cocktails and popcorn, hubby and I had a Sing Along with Beatles "#1" double CD. We are total Beatlemanic's = our version of a perfect romantic evening. Yep, we know all the words, even the obscure bits.

  Hard for me to have a Fav Album but Rubber Sole is up there with Revolver.

  Stones are among our all time favorites too. I see there is a thread on them also....

  i'm currently working on seattle stores for april/may.

  then i'll move on to portland.. i'd love to see you if you're in these areas!.

  apostates at assemblys

  i was told not to even look at them when i studied, but i did not buy the satan stuff about them and said well what have the watchtower got to worry about if they have the truth and no skeletons in the closet ?

  i was quite tempted to speak to them and felt rude and judgemental , what did you used to think about them when you were dubs in the trufff ?

  I was always curious about them. 'Watch out for the Watchtower' over their bullhorn. One time my FIL, a very friendly fellow, always wishing to help, went up to one asking them to please not be so angry and the apostate began yelling and caused more attention. Pretty funny and everyone talked more about them than usual.

  Years ago in LA at Dodger Statium there were a huge group all lined up the drive to parking, wearing Brown Paper Bags over their heads. Very entertaining
