did anyone catch the beatles on the record, last night on the history channel?
a really good program with lots of never before seen footage and interviews.
george martin narrates much of it and give lots of insight behind the making of the music.. the history channel repeats these programs fairly often but i could not find it scheduled on the website guide.

looking thru the feb 2010 watchtower i noticed that the society has done a little white wash of the past by not mentioning the book 'millions now living will never die' only mentioning the earlier talk using the word 'may'.. perhaps because rutherford stated " i want the statement millions now living will never die to be taken literally, as it is, in the light of fullfilled prophecy, a provable biblical proposition" they dont want the r&f to know of the book nor its grandiose pronouncment.. 8 .

my yard guy has been great, and i have given him a few tips throughout the year.
today was his last lawn day before christmas.
I have a cleaning business and some of my clients do tip me very nicely during the holiday season. The money is nice but the real gift is the expression of gratefullness of my hard work. I enjoy the work I do for them much more than the person I have worked for 25yrs+ and never, not once has he given me so much as a card and never even says Good Morning or Go to Hell. It's like I do not exist or beneath him to say thank you.
IMO, if you appreciate the service you recieve from your paper delivery, yard guy, cleaning person then you should express it to them often. A card with or with out a small tip goes a long way toward motivating them to do a good joy.
and maybe it's because my son had a paper route long ago and I found out what a hard job, 7 day wk, 365, rain or shine delivering newpaper is. I subscribe yearly and always add a 15% tip. And sometimes I leave a candy bar or can of pop out for the kid, just because.
for myself growing up in the 60's it was mostly the beatles that drew my attention as well as many others.. as for the entire body of work by them, there might never be another four piece musical group like them.. sad to think that the younger generation today only has thug rap/hip hop trash or britney spears to listen to.. the quality of music may have diminished itself when it started to become more of a visual expression of art rather than .

I was, still am a complete Beatlemaniac, grew up in the 60's and the first Beatle song I recall hearing on AM radio was I Wanna Hold Your Hand. That was it for me, I was gone, totally in luv with the 4 Lads. I could never pick a favorite song, love em all, every one. Actually I think of their music in albums not individual songs. Rubber Soul, Revolver, Abby Road and I agree with Undercover the White Album is underappreciated, love Dear Prudence I recently saw the Cirque Du Soleil show LOVE in Vegas....I will never be the same. Absolutly amazing and moving. The interpetation of the Beatles music was beyond beautiful. That said I have to take exception to the view that all the new music is lousy. There will never be another group like the Beatles. Was it Karma that they came together, who knows but they truly are the Best Ever. Yet there are many up and coming singer songwriters and groups out there making wonderful music. Alicica Keys, Black Eyed Peas, I even like Lady Ga Ga. Brad Pasley is a great guitat player and crosses over from country to rock. That is the wonder of music it's ALL GOOD I've also seen Ringo and his All Star Band a couple times. He is very generous to showcase other performers and take a backseat himself. He talks about the inspiration they give him. Thank gawd for Elvis, Michael, Mozart and of course The Beatles, rock on

my daughter was DF in her teens and one of the requirerments to be reinstated was that she have her WT studied and UNDERLINED. The PO would come up behind her in the back row to do a check-up. I was a pretty straight arrow Jdub at the time and even then knew it was just a control tactic. One of the many issues that got me to THINK = what's wrong with this picture?
Also, when I did study my WT in advance I rarely underlined more than a key word or scripture and got lots flippant comments like 'I see you didn't study again' The arrogance was another issue that made me come to my senses.

Julia really hits the notes on how it feels to let go of something you have believed all your life. When I first heard this momologe I had to hear if again and again so I bought it on Itunes and downloaded to my IPod.

im not trying to be self-righteous but i want to understand the thought process of someone who knows the origins of christmas, but starts celebrating it (putting up christmas tree, exchanging wrapped gifts; repeating merry christmas to everyone they see in the month of december)??
it seems very silly to me (imo) after knowing how and why christmas was created (to cater to pagans sun worship and convert to christianity)!!
Hear Hear, I would like to make a motion that we as XJW heretofor designate every 3rd Thurs as Pantsmas Day. Gifts are optional, pants are not. Traditions will evolve but lets start with Colored Lights and Giant Glitter. I want Sushi as the main food because that's my favorite but you can have whatever you like.
And Billy the Ex-Bethelite will be Master of Ceremonies and wear a very tall hat under which he carries a Wiener Dog wearing pants.
so, i am curious..... how many of you have a hard time getting that phrase out of your vocabulary?.
i have been conscienciously trying not to use it at all, so now when i am in a conversation with a jw, its amazing how often they use that phrase.
i look back and wonder "god, did i say that that often?
Throughout my childhood my mother used the term, still does. For some reason it never sounded like correct grammer. To casually throw around 'The Truth' always felt folksy and common. 'Is so and so in the Truth?' I suppose I was kind of a 'nose in the air' JW and I don't recall the WTBS using the phrase in the literature. I seem to remember we were counseled not to use it in the Ministry School. I would use Bro or Sister or just Witness or Christian. I did use it if others said it first but never to a nonJW.
The other thing my mother drummed into me was that the FDS were just ordinary men. They are used by Jehovah but are imperfect and make mistakes. So I concluded 'who are we to say that only we know the Truth about God. Way to arrogant even for me the uppity one. So no it hasn't be difficult to stop using it.
These days my favorite phrase is 'the truth about the Troof'
